Ladd and Tezuka: The most contentious of couples.
ОтветитьSaw this show back in the 1960's on WNEW Channel 5 in New York (It's now the FOX Channel). For some reason this was the one episode that was never shown.
ОтветитьGotta say this is insanely impressive for its time. The writing, humor, and even sad moments are all perfect and well timed. I actually laughed more at these jokes than the jokes in looney tunes. This is still masterpiece even to this day, I never realized how dark this series can get.
ОтветитьI like how none of the stuff the scientists did had anything to do with building a robot. They were just like, draw some flashing lights, dials and springs and that'll look futuristic enough. That chicken looking dude actually thought his robot was gonna grow up, who writes this crap? LOL
ОтветитьI remember watching Astro Boy on our local NBC (the National Broadcast Corporation here in America) station in the middle '60's and marveling at how different it was from what American cartoons. Yes, it might have been originally Japanese but that was (and still is!) just fine by me!
ОтветитьBro really blamed it on him💀
ОтветитьJOKE!
Ответитьused to watch this on wee willie webbers colorful cartoon club on channel 17 in philadelphia when i was a kid
ОтветитьBoyton's voice actor even at the time isn't too bad.
Ответить"astroboy fights the ku klux klan" lmfao
ОтветитьYou sold me out.
ОтветитьHere after watching Pluto on Netflix
ОтветитьAnd thus many legends forward are born
ОтветитьI didn't know that the latter would ger so dark!
ОтветитьWAS MY FAVORITE!
ОтветитьHere after watching the amazing anime Pluto. I had to come back here and rewatch the original! Still pretty good!
ОтветитьJesus, talk about abandonment issues.
ОтветитьWatching this after sorta rewatching the 2009 movie last night. Ngl, seeing Tenma in this makes me even more disappointed in Nic Cage's performance in the movie. He's the perfect choice but feels too grounded. Nothing wrong with making the character more empathetic, but I prefer my Nic Cage stuff a little more wacky.
ОтветитьThe best name the localizers could come up with was Aster Boynton? I'm dying
ОтветитьDang this is so much darker than the 1980 full color version…
ОтветитьAstro Boy is one of the first things I saw on TV in the early 60s. I think we got one in 1963 when I was 6. I watch it now and I marvel at how deep it is. Death, mourning, insanity, slavery, and also mercy, love, courage, and emancipation. They literally don't make them like this anymore. This is excellent science fiction for kids. Social commentary too. It's just as good now as it was then! All hail Tezuka!
ОтветитьI watched all the Astro boy shows growing up in the '60s. The modern cartoons can't compare!!
ОтветитьWhat would an old man want with a robot……..child………oh
ОтветитьI si love ASTRO Boy as much as I did as a small child. ❤
ОтветитьMy god I never would of thought Astro boy was so dark with its origins but it’s good in that regard
ОтветитьHa! I remember running home from school, here in Hawai'i, to see Astro Boy. Those were the days we used to sing: "Aji, Aji, Ajinomoto...Aji no more toe!!" Hawai'i was more Hawaiian, even Waikiki, too bad now it's like California and Condos are built for rich people. Locals could never afford the many condos built in Kaka'ako. Aloha ino!
ОтветитьHis fathers was act salute Lee, bonkers metal can’t grow
ОтветитьHe’s not a real normal human boy he’s metal his fathers so bonkers
ОтветитьWow, this really does have that older time's comedy and timing. Amazingly inspired 😊
The beginning is so so sad.. :( though, it is nice the see how things originally began! I wonder what happened next
So I've never seen the Astro boy anime. I've seen the Astro boy game that came out for Game boy advance but never the anime. So this is pretty cool .
ОтветитьAnd real children can feel this low too. What a shame.

ОтветитьRemember catching reruns of this show in the 2000s on Toonami while waiting for DBZ to come on. Good times.
ОтветитьAstro Boy's father sucks!!
ОтветитьI love this story and the episode and give respect to osamu Tezuka who created Astro boy ❤
ОтветитьThe first Anime broadcast in America!
