You keep mixing up the the two alternative Karmapa's. Ogyen Trinley Dorje, was recognized by the 14th Dalai Lama. Trinley Thaye Dorje has been recognized by Shamar Rinpoche, the other supposed Karmapa. I would refer to Wikipedia to read "The Karmapa controversy". It is a quite extensive paper discussing the controversy surrounding the two supposed Karmapas.

This was interesting. However, that monk was not walking up a cliff face. It was a 45° face. Still great work he didn't go up on all fours but not remarkable in all honesty. I'm more impressed by those that meditate in sub zero temperatures in robes and suffer no impact from the extreme conditions.
