I got that set, too! Try different half pans. I was able to add 4 to the middle row.

I didn’t like the selection of colours in the Schminke retro set but I was able to add a middle row to make the palette more useful

I have that small Schmincke palette as well and I didn't really use it because I didn't like that it didn't hold that many colors. But then I decided to become brutal and get rid of the metal insert things. I managed to get 5 half-pans (vertically) on the top and bottom row and 4 (horiontally) in the middle. I doubt they will ever come out again, it's a very snug fit. But I love it now and use it all the time :) The difference between 8 and 14 colors is immense ^^ a small space wonder

The Schmincke palette box is cute and I love the retro paints...but I will have to wait till the next sale is on. Says my accountant...
One of my few Lukas tubes is Naples Yellow Reddish, a lovely color. And such a bulky tube, love it.

Schminke mixes look dull to me. Best 2 colors in that set are the ultramarine and the vermillion. AGallo colors are beautiful.

Hi guys, Happy New Year!

In this video I'll swatch and review the Schmincke Retro watercolour set I got during Jackson's Black Friday offers, plus some A. Gallo watercolours and ink.
The box is very compact and feels premium with the Schmincke logo at the front, I just had such a hard time opening it! That said, I love the size and low profile, and as you'll see, I managed to even find a way to add extra pans.
