Bought new a Remington SSA USMC M40 repro that would shoot ~.75 MOA, regret selling. Our ETT had M24's in Afghanistan that would hold .5 MOA all day with M118R. Liked the short action, lighter weight of the M40 though.
Ответитьlove the m40 but i think the army system was a lil better back then

ОтветитьVery cool rifle to see, thanks for sharing!
Ответитьlmfao Dick Culver’s cool rifle though sorry for laughing
ОтветитьMy sniper rifle of choice, unfortunately only in video games but great to get some more history and see how well the Marines put it to good use.
ОтветитьFantastic shooting! What classic beauty that rifle is!
Ответить1966 was the introduction year of this sniper rifle for USMC in SE Asia. It slowly fazed out 1903 Springfield, MC Garand and Winchester M70 already in use.
ОтветитьThose Remington short action receivers “Got the Job Done”….🇺🇸
ОтветитьSorry. The M40 as deployed by the US Marine Corp in Vietnam was not a Remington with a modern scope. It was a Winchester Pre64 Model 70 that came with a 4x Unertl scope and a heavy target barrel.
Ответитьme love you long time.
ОтветитьMajor Culver was hugely instrumental in my life. He taught the JROTC class at my high school, as well as our rifle team. Kept in touch with him for a few years after I joined the Corps. The world lost one helluva fine man when he passed.
ОтветитьFantastic!
ОтветитьThat thing is BEAUTIFUL!
ОтветитьMy favorite Rem 700!
ОтветитьI own another Dick Culver sniper rifle., an 03A4. With it came a letter from a lawyer explaining that it was a theft recovery. Apparently, he had an amazing collection including a gas trap Garand and it was all stolen. When I bought mine, about 10% of the collection had been recovered.
ОтветитьThe only effective moisture control system with timber stocks that I am aware of, is the Morse system, whereby a completed stock is immersed in glycol, prior to surface sealing. I understand that the Italian stockmaker Sile, used this system on Parker Hale stocks, e.g. the two piece stocks on their post WW2 Lee Enfield sporter conversions and the later one piece stocks for their Santa Barbara actioned rifles. I have never heard of moisture related problems with any of those stocks. You can see a clear durability difference between the Parker Hale Lee Enfield sporter stocks and DIY sporterised stocks. I do not know why Remington failed to use this system although I suspect that licensing fees may have been a factor. ‘Not invented here’ seems more likely, however!
ОтветитьGood video, thank you. Ryan is doing the shooting community a huge favour by lending these rifles to Rob. A true scholar and a gentleman! I do have to wonder sometimes, at the start of these videos … if Rob has been observing the East European tradition of keeping a few black cherry trees on his property and then consuming the end product😅! Cheers from NZ🇳🇿!
ОтветитьIs this rothco tiger stripe on you?
Ответить🙌🔥🙌
ОтветитьBeautiful presentation , loving your channel..fresh air on shooting and ballistics.
ОтветитьWhat contour is the barrel, a heavy sporter hunting barrel 24"?
ОтветитьGreat shooting rob glad ur on our side have u done any British 303 jungle shooting would like to see u do a video on this gun happy Easter and god bless u and Olga enjoy all ur videos ❤
ОтветитьLove this. But their is an old saying: American weapons are like mc donalds and european weapons are like a 5 star restaurant.🙂
ОтветитьThis is an awesome videoove the history !
ОтветитьVery cool gun he's "shootink"
ОтветитьMit so viel Entusiasmus solltest nach Ukraina fahren.
👍👍
Excellent. I really enjoy watching your adventures shooting historical rifles. Thanks for sharing Semper Fi
ОтветитьFkng outstanding!👏👏👏💥👍👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьThanks Rob
ОтветитьI'd love to get a bull barrel .308 Remington 700 and create an M40-ish tribute.
ОтветитьVery cold day in Vietnam. It’s in the upper 20 degrees…….😆😂👍
ОтветитьI have a Winchester Model 70, chambered in 7mm Rem Mag
ОтветитьMy dream rifles ...
ОтветитьI get the allure of it.. but man, it's just a bull barreled Remington 700 lol
ОтветитьI've always thought at the time that these rifles should have been scoped with the Kahles ZF69 scope from the Steyr SSG69.
I hunted some years in that timeperiod with a "civilian" Rem700 BDL varmint in 308 with the ZF69 in Redfield 26mm 4-screw rings (adjustable for windage). I also had a period Redfield 3-9x40, almost identical to the military scope, and the Kahles is by far, and I mean lightyears, ahead of the Redfield in optical quality. Especielly at dusk and dawn.
The same can be said about the ZF69 vs the Weaver T10 as well. I used the T10 as a range scope. The T10 will not survive in the field like the bulletproof ZF69.
$100K what a waste of tax dollars.
Ответитьjust saw your video on Vintage Sniper World Championship - Steel Edition 2022
i have an M40a1 correct rifle and I carried one in Iraq. How do i find that match and enter for 2023.? I cant seem to find anything on it for 2023. Please advise
Thank you.
Standard weight bullet for 7.62x51 mm is 150 gr. Have you tried heavier bullets?
ОтветитьWould youse use Schmitt an bender optic
ОтветитьWhat caliber?
Ответить$100,000?!? The American taxpayers were scammed; that's a non-remarkable Remington 700 with a match barrel and a cheap scope.
ОтветитьAs i told newbys who thought they could win benchrest competition with a remington 700, only if you spend a LOT of money, you might be competing in the top 50
ОтветитьWell. Good to know even a bolt action from the 60s is worth more than anything I have.
ОтветитьAwesome thanks! By any chance do you ever want to look at a Model 70 Winchester?
ОтветитьThat is so cool, and what an honor to shoot this Marine Hero’s rifle!
ОтветитьDid he say Vietnam "me so horny" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. I just fell of my bed
ОтветитьOutstanding demonstration Rob, If I remember correctly...Douglas barrels?
ОтветитьExcellent presentation.
