I have been following your channel for a few years. Your tips have made my bathrooms reno so much smoother, thank you!
ОтветитьWorks on lip/lock boards too? Or would it damage the lock/lip on the pieces your pulling on
ОтветитьGenius! Thanks!
ОтветитьYou can also use a plunger. But it’s best to use plastic or wooden wedges to pry that board up.
ОтветитьNobody comes to fix this in the last 2 years, not even the floor guy that I said I would pay him for it. My problem is tht the gap is big, from the wall under the cabinet... I can kick the plank, but it moves again. I don't know if I should use glue to keep it in place... any suggestions.
Thank you for this clip, I hope I can fix this myself.
This is an incredibly messy, stupid, convoluted solution. Get dual suction cup lifters from Harbor Freight. They're like five bucks. Then you aren't putting TAPE on your nice flooring. This video is a trash idea. BTW, I suck at home improvement. So if I have a better home improvement idea than you.... You should feel bad about yourself.
ОтветитьHow do you stop the plank from sliding open again? I keep closing the holes on my floor, but after a few days, it slides back open.
ОтветитьNice job done.
ОтветитьI just used some carpet tape I have had lying around for 16 years and it works just fine. No plastic bagging required. Nice try.
ОтветитьLOL, I just give it a good slightly down and forward kick with sneakers on, and done. LOL
ОтветитьThanks for the tips!
ОтветитьThat’s pretty cool. As a contractor, at this point my solution is to not install “luxury vinyl” ever again. Hate the stuff. The only click plank flooring I’ve found that installs easily and reliably stays tight is Marmoleum.
ОтветитьVancouver carpenter never let's you down.
I dont have this problem but just finished installing LVP and the YT gods were listening through my phone and offered me this video.
Scary huh
Just tried your method.....works so well and quick. Did follow another's suggestion to put painters tape on laminate first & double back tape on top of that...made it super easy to lift off. Thanks!!
ОтветитьThank you ❤❤
ОтветитьThat looks fantastic but doesn't it then leave another gap at the other end of the plank you are hammering?
ОтветитьHi how to know which way to knock?
ОтветитьGreat Trick! I've used it myself with 100% success. What I did different (and this worked fine for me) I used 2" wide Blue Painters tape rolled over on it self (loop) in place of carpet tape. Squash it down tight and it holds surprisingly well for this task. If needed put the rolled-tape perpendicular to the direction of board movement for extra grabbing power. 2 benefits: You already have blue painters tape and it's easy to remove without a pry bar.
Ответитьgreat video man. 2.6M views, wow!
ОтветитьThank You for this video! I finally managed to fix my flooring gaps. But I had no wood piece available at home, so I figured a wooden cutting board could do the job😅 and it did!
ОтветитьThanks for the tip it was easy peasy -- even with an old roll of carpet tape
ОтветитьJust kick it with trainers on. They usually shut.
ОтветитьVC does it again! I was getting the multi-tool ready to cut out the baseboard to fix the issue. You literally saved me a couple of hours of work (and potential damage to my floor). Crazy how one guy posting a six-minute video can save countless hours of work for homeowners.
ОтветитьThank you for this video. Worked perfectly! Was able to reuse the same 2x6 and 2x tape repeatedly until all was snapped together. I did not remove the overlap lips and instead snapped them back together....highly recommend having someone stand on the plank you do not want to move.
ОтветитьThe bigger trick is preventing those gaps from opening in the first place. I tried using some powerful glue and it caused the boards around it to warp, then eventually it still split open.
ОтветитьTHANK YOUUU!!! Finally a super easy and simple way to fix this
ОтветитьIt’s going to keep happening unless you glue them.
ОтветитьDang!!
ОтветитьMate, I tell you what. You are a champion!!! I have had a board in the middle of the room start to come appart and all day after seeing it I was stressing that I will have to pull half the floor up to fix it. Thought man let me just google it and bam this video popped up. Did the exact same as you and fixed. Now I can sleep tonite not eating away at me how much work I have ahead of me to fix it
Ответитьthank you Vancouver Carpenter. great tips as usual.
ОтветитьThis is a temporary fix. Id like a permanent one of possible
Ответитьwhat about linoleum
ОтветитьJust make sure there’s no burrs on your red and silver slim Jim.
I have one of those and there are burgers on it, but I would not be using it for that application unless I was to file off the ends
Stiff brush for the gap before vacuuming. Instead of the carpet tape, use woodworkers double back tape. It’s not as sticky but doesn’t require the force to remove the block
ОтветитьThe double-sided tape that u mentioned is for carpeting, not the normal type of tape?
ОтветитьLove your skate videos was stoked to see this how to video you did.
ОтветитьThe gap was probably due to expansion and contraction. That method you provided is great but I think it will return as im thinking the reason why it happened there as there is a small flaw in the plank where it's slightly looser then the rest of the planks and it seperates as it is the easist to move. I would have banged out the floor to create a larger gap, used wood glue in the tongue and groove of the plank (gap) and banged the plank back in and wiped the floor clean from the oozed out glue.
Also you can just wear some rubber sneakers and kick the planks into place. Just make sure there is no large debris lodged into the sole of the shoe.
awesome helpful tips greatly thankful.
ОтветитьLove this trick, which saved me a ton of time this weekend...
ОтветитьGet some Elmer's glue and put in the gap before you close it up to keep this from happening again
ОтветитьWhy did it separate and won’t it keep separating? 🤷♂️
ОтветитьWorked beautifully to fix a gap that popped up in my floor. Appreciated and subscribed!
ОтветитьMost excellent! I'll see if it works on planks further out from the wall. I'm afraid they may all start to separate and I have to do it all the way to the wall. Your thoughts?
ОтветитьFantastic instructions….. thank you
ОтветитьThank you sooooooo much!!! You just saved me ripping up my whole floor again and spending another day relaying it. Genius method 🙏🏻
ОтветитьNice good trick I love it. Thank you.
ОтветитьBetter yet, instead of that metal flat bar to remove the tapped wood at the end....They make plastic bars that can achieve the same thing and there is no chance to scratch the floor. Harbor freight sells them cheap.
ОтветитьThank you for the video. You did teach me some new tricks with the double sided tape I had not seen. We have laminate throughout the house as we have removed all carpet. I bought twin glass suction cup tool and use that to move the tiles. I think the wood with tape might work better over all if you have a stubborn tile to move though. I will buy some tape and see if it works better for moving my rows under the refrigerator that have been a problem. The refrigerator actually pulls away the rows the other way. I bought the tiles from Home Depot, Home Collector brand ( I think is the name). They are really easy to go down but have been a problem just in that one spot.. They do move back with some work though. Peace.
