I can’t believe people think Charlie is smart… to not know about things is one thing, but to claim something is unhealthy because you can’t pronounce the ingredients is beyond silly. It’s a really really stupid appeal to nature.

What a world we live in…

So if charlie is "prolife" then by extension he should be vegan.
So if this is what conservatism has become, then it won't last for a long time.

Inconsistency in "Life is Life":
Pro-lifers who often say "life is life," yet they may not extend that same value to animals, as evidenced by their consumption of meat. This highlights a fundamental inconsistency in their reasoning.
Potential and Sentience:
Pro-lifers might argue that human fetuses have potential and are sentient, while animals do not. This is where the inconsistency becomes clearer. Studies have shown that some animals, like pigs, have cognitive abilities comparable to young children, suggesting that their life may not be as easily dismissed as the pro-life argument suggests.

Charlie is just a coward. Bad faith in his arguments and conversation style. He clearly doesn't care about the subject at all and just wants to move on.

When Charlie says that eating one impossible burger sometimes is worse than eating a meat diet that's just disingenuous. The guy eats 100 times healthier 95% of the time and if anything goes to Charlie's level of unhealthy the other 5% of the time.

People don't know anything about a healthy vegan diet they only know soy and impossible fake meat crap. Fruits and veggies are abundant, beans lentils, breads. I mean it's just a terrible argument and besides, the whole vegan argument is mostly centered on not hurting animals needlessly.

So its clearly less harmful to the animals and its actually much healthier if done properly

interesting video. im on both sides.

I'll start by defending his laugh. i don't think Charlie was trying to be funny about the cheesesteak. I think he laughed because he was being honest about eating meat that night and felt uncomfortable asking him the moral issue. I think Charlie gave a fair amount of time to hear out both sides as well. however....

As a strong bible believer, I think God really supports veganism. Isaiah 11 speaks of a time in which the lion shall eat straw like the ox. I think this very well may be literal, which fits the peace in Revelation 21-22. Isaiah also speaks of a time coming when lamb sacrifice is similar to breaking a dog's neck.

This could be a much deeper discussion. A good summary of my view can be found in Romans 14, that God gave a faith to each person, that anything not from faith is sin. I think the food laws supported certain animals like cow as healthier to eat than pig. Pig is very difficult to raise in a way that is safe to eat. I love the idea of veganism, or at least vegetarianism.

Liberals and conservatives will never agree on many things, but Vegans on both sides should put being Vegan and saving animals' lives above the humancentric liberal/conservative debates.

Also, charlie probably was going to eat a steak that night, it wasn't a joke. Everyone has the right to make their own choice of what they eat, leave meat eaters alone.

Wow, I hugely respect this young man for standing up when the entire crowd is jeering. I honestly don’t understand why Christians aren’t on the forefront of veganism rather than most of them being against it. Meat eating might be allowed in the Bible, but so was slavery and polygamy. That doesn’t mean it was God’s original intention. But my own personal theory is that the reason so many Christians hate vegans is because they consider themselves to be the group with the inside scoop on morality, direct from God, so when somebody comes along with a position that they deep down know is more ethical, it violates their monopoly on morality, and they just can’t allow that to happen. Like I say, just my theory.

Well Kirk definitely lost this one. I'm not vegan, and not gonna attempt saying that it's morally better to eat meat given how majority of animals are treated, to best state of out knowledge animals are more sentient than plants, and feel pain more like we do.
I try to eat more plant based food simply because it's easier to keep yourself healthy this way, if less animals get hurt in the process, that's good. But going full vegan would be rather hard for me, and I guess a lot of people who all have their problems.

Generally eating vegan is at least to me a whole lot more work in preparation, and balancing your diet properly. You can call it laziness, and to an extend it probably is, I can call it lack of time, and I'm probably also somewhat right.

I'm glad that a lot of people are vegans and strive to make a world a better place, not going to criticise you for doing something good.

I personally find it hard to go vegan, I don't have time for prep I don't have a lot of knowledge that would help me eat vegan or time to get that knowledge, also psychically I just feel good when consuming meat, not that I don't like vegan dishes I like them very much but if I'm missing meat, something is not right.

Man I just feel like I'm bad person, I'm white male, which makes me already bad by default, and I'm also eating meat which I guess makes me even worse, and if you find out that adding to all that I'm also damn fat? I'm dealing with a lot of personal shit, and society that looks like it hates me at least in the internet. Guess I just have to accept I'm a human garbage and live with it

Disclaimer: i dont have a horse in this race.

Im not a vegan. But i believe we all have the right to govern our lives. This and debates about religion and other similar topics are inherently pointless. Debate can foster greater understanding or cause further reflection and revision of your beliefs.

I say this bc Charlies argument is thin. But so us the other guy's. We are talking about a lifestyle difference. I can't neutrally judge others on this topic just as they cannot judge me objectively. Condemning one over the other based on their own beliefs is just a dangerous mindset

In my opinion, you won't get anywhere arguing about nutrition, or demonizing meat consumption or animal products in general. Humans are as natural as any other animal, and it is natural to consume a variety of sources of sustenance. The debate should be kept squarely on animal cruelty. No reasonable person WANTS animal cruelty. Reduce or remove large scale animal cruelty first. Happy cows, pigs, and chickens can be ethically slaughtered for human consumption, while also given the utmost respect. This will result in a greatly reduced amount of cheap meat in the markets. This will naturally result in less meat being eaten by the populace. The next generation of humans will be used to eating less meat. They will tackle more and more subtle components of animal cruelty. The meat industry will naturally dwindle.

The factory farm argument, the solution for that is to just buy local meat from healthy/happy raised animals.. With veganism the nutrition just is not there and there's a lot of things from plants that our bodies can't/struggle to digest. Also, growing plants on a large scale damages the environment too. Most veganism arguments are easily debunkable, but I'm open to hearing some that are not..
