How do you get the needleplate back on the Singer Confidence 7469? It will not go back on correctly to line up with the feed dogs and needle hole

Stay away from Singer!

I read reviews about the Singer Confidence 7470 and that it is really a bad quality machine. Any thoughts?

bought a similar one without the foot pedal and was unable to operate it with another pedal of a different type... Its pedal is very special. What should I do? How do I operate it when the pedal is not available in the market?
