Destiny 3 should be a hard reboot
Destiny was great but Destiny 2 it has splintered almost a lost in the woods

They need to hard reboot the series or time jump so that way they can build a better foundation and NOT try to do it all

Doing it all is never a good thing

Get three principles in place

Game play and gun play (Feels so different from D1 to D2)

Story, stream line it and make it accessible so new comers can see it from start to finish

Microtransactions PUMP THE BRAKES

Not everything needs an added charge

I also think they really should make destiny 3
Not as a sequel but a destiny 1 and 2 rework without activision and continueing after the final shape
(by destiny 1 and 2 i mean starting in the d1 start, some dlc being free like d1 dlc and some d2+d3 dlc, keeping all content and even a new third base-game campaign, good crucible, good gambit, good sparrow racing)

I'd love a Destiny 3, something about having trilogies of games is oddly satisfying to me, idk i'm weird. plus they'll be able to drop content vaullting so those who want to play Destiny 1 content can play Destiny 1, those who want 2 can play 2...etc...etc

You keep all your cosmetics and weapons and

I would rather bungie do an over watch 2 where they have a mega patch that revamps a lot of things

I don’t even care if they take my guns but I want to keep my cosmetics

I don’t want it, but I would do it. As long as the D3 Y1 wasn’t as bad as D2 Y1. One of the best things D1 had over D2 in my opinion was something like getting exotics. Exotics dropping were something special. And exotic primaries were actually useful. D2 handed them out like candy.

Also, I want to go back to Primary/Special/Heavy weapons instead of Kinetic/Energy/Heavy. Allow each slot to have kinetics and energy damage, but I want to go back to those weapon slots.

I would like to think that these system changes could be made to the core game and have the ability to maintain all the content as well. I really would like to understand how it isn't currently.

A prequel destiny game could be really really cool, especially if they where single player story driven games so we could finally see such great lore without having to read it

Late reply but… Restart? D3 would be it’s own, brand new game. That shouldn’t be an issue whatsoever. I quit D2 because of all the reused content and no enjoyable grind. I want so badly to like Destiny again

I never felt like drip fed content was a very bad solution to keep players engaged. If I was one of the people that wanted to just blow through the entire seasonal story all at once, I would just wait for 8 weeks until the story is over and do it all at once anyways, and Bungie didn't have me playing for 8 weeks anyways, whether it's the first 8 weeks or the last 8 weeks. Honestly, Destiny is better when you take a break from it for a few weeks anyways. So they should just let players engage at their own pace and take breaks when they need to. A short break is better than a player leaving the game forever

I stopped playing destiny 2 because it took them so long to fix the game I was waiting for the new dlc for them to fix everything until then I lost interest I've wanted to come back and play several times but haven't been able to do it because i have to restart everything with nothing and no one will want to play with me because I have nothing i have to play alone all the dlc it just feels sad that i also have to buy all the dlc to play it

I wouldn't mind having to restart If they gave me a game that was basically the size of destiny 2 and destiny one combined with everything included to a point with a sprinkle of .hack and sword art online with a big splash of wow .
where I'd have to buy a one or 4 terabyte hard drive just for the game but we're talking about a a full game an extreme sized amount of world to play on and story . Not some bare bones fucking bullshit that destiny one and destiny 2 came with where you had to wait 6 months to 2 years for the game to actually have some fucking depth

i have had my complaints since launch about D2 but i seriously had issues with the experience since shadowkeep, i never bought a dlc after and it is because of the views expressed here, its exactly how i felt, and no one in the destiny community listened to me. I haven't had fun w/ D2 since the menagerie.

Bungie has a basic problem, and that is that they don't listen to the community, they don't make interesting content for the season, and I find them quite lazy to change anything.
If there are 3, the teachers should make a poll and ask the community how to properly tune it to perfection and fun.
The craft system is also good and I would probably rework the statistics system in weapons and equipment. The PoE game has an interesting system... although it is a devil's game, but the crafting there is unreal... There is no money, only raw materials. I'm an amateur in the game, but the content I add there can't be compared.....I mainly come across the attacks and the fun....unreal
If they wanted to save time due to the engine, they could try to negotiate with epic... that way there would be more time for the story, DLC quests and others.

Hopefully something or someone will force the studio to create something new...

D2 catered to casuals and lost its core community from D1. D1 rng grind was awesome. D2 "everyone is a winner" killed it.

I would love a fresh restart for Destiny, on next gen, less catered to the casual player.

With the release of cross-platform characters, why not have characters transfer over to Destiny 3 if it releases, with their unlocked collection? Its a rough idea to think about, but honestly if it COULD be done, then I wouldnt complain.

I would take D3 because I stopped playing after beyond light came out because of the giant paywall every year and the vaulting of the exotics and legendaries I grinded ex: black spindle, Thorne, hush also I could get more players to play cause I know a lot of Year 2-3 players like me stopped playing and it will be less scary for new players cause they won’t have to worry about missing out on like 5 expansions

Let me be real clear here... A proper Destiny 3 is simply NOT ever gonna happen. No matter how much some people wanna hope for it, Bungie has been crystal clear about this and went on record multiple times saying, and I quote, "We don't want to put a number 3 on the box", they also keep saying that their goal is to have ONE singular living breathing world for Destiny, not multiple segmented ones.

So making an actual proper sequel is just completely off the table

HOWEVER, and that's mostly me wildly speculating here... Destiny 2 could potentially BECOME a pseudo Destiny 3 at some point, more precisely when the "Light and Dark" Saga will conclude, and Bungie made it clear that a MAJOR event is gonna happen once we reach the Finale of that saga.

And here's the wildest part... this could potentially lead to a MAJOR rebranding of Destiny 2 where the "2" is dropped altogether and many of its core systems gets revamped

D2 needs some techincal updates as well. FSR 2 (or even FSR 1) could open D2 up to players with APUs.

On the topic. I'm in for the story. Destiny is facinating. I'm very disappointed by "the witness", but lets see.
I really hope to see a complete D1/D2 at some point. I wouldn't even mind if the D1 content was not updated at all.

I started with the compelte version of D1 and it had endless content. There was so much to do in there.
In D2 I feel like I'm replaying the same five strikes again. I know there are more, but it feels like less, as I've played all of them over and over again...

i hear this and i feel it. BUT i still have hope. theres a lot that Bungie still has to do to bring Destiny back to having a satisfying gameplay loop for a lot of people. but vanilla Destiny (and thusly core gameplay) was developed under an Activision banner. Now that Bungie is owned by Mircosoft, i think theyre using D2 to finish the story theyre trying to tell, then launch D3 when they finish up the Light v Dark saga

I think it would be good in my opinion for a d3 and a fresh start like its a brand new game which it is start a new character a new story(surrounded by a brand new enemy faction not an existing one) because I just feel Destiny 2 has been dragged out for too long now and nothing feels fresh or new anymore, starting fresh with a new character and new story getting back up to the hard cap again would feel refreshing because everything in D2 just feels repetitive now, getting to the max power doesn't feel rewarding or anything anymore.
