Pokemon Sword/Shield - Before You Buy

I think bc I’ve played since a kid I’ve always given all the characters the voices I’ve thought fit the personality or look. I’ve never really thought about it but it would be nice to not read everything in different voices and accents

For a game that made more than a Billion Dollars: Sword and Shield have Very limited gameplay, Not enough pokemon, variety of moves,tm's, tr's is limited, a lot of abilities in and outside battle removed in gen 8, no innovation, a lot of cut content because of "time constraints" etc.

This is my last pokemon game, the open world game like legends arceus & scarlet/violet not good

I haven’t played since sapphire/ruby. I should have no complaints.

I think this game was amazing. It could have been better but this game really shines in the final fights like Leon and Eternutus but the DLC was my favourite part because it was actually fun and I was motivated too continue interacting with Mustard or peoney.

If they ever put dialogue on a pokemon game, which i doubt will ever happen.. they will have to make it in numerous languages to be fair for every fan

I agree about this game, and the franchise in general, needing voice acting BAD. Nintendo needs to stop being cheap and cutting corners with this franchise and pay for some damn voice actors. Every other game franchise is doing it now, so they need to update their status and start hiring voice actors.

Ive never played a Pokemon game, my 6yo kid started watching the anime so I decided to give the game a try. I'll probably play just one, this one looks decent.

You see, voice-acting would be a major problem. Nintendo probably doesn't want characters to go like:

Oh, tha-
Let's b-
every time you skip a dialog.
It sounds very annoying in games like for example Genshin Impact.

We do not need voice acting. Last thing we need is to be playing the anime

Going from Pokémon black & white as my last played game to this, is going to be a huge jump for me technologically

the ui design looks like it wasn't design and the developers just speedran the entire thing to get some money

tbh the gui design is far more better in ultra sun and moon rather than this

would be great to be able to toggle between turn based combat and action based combat depending on your real life mood and needs

I don't really mind no voice chat. I was always used to the Zelda games that didn't have voice acting so when voice acting wasn't part of a game I never really noticed. When a character is voiced poorly though it can make the game seem to have a poor storyline, so I think that Nintendo wanted to avoid this by continuing the trend of allowing players to imagine a fitting voice for the characters they meet based on their texts, looks, and quirks. I wouldn't mind if they gave the Pokemon games voice actors, but I would expect very good quality and would be rather judgemental if a high-quality big-name game didn't have superb voice actors.

Worst Pokémon game yet

I always check this video series before i buy a game. I knoe its jusy an opinion but its all logical opinions on the games being featured. Thank you for showing me before i buy a game. I appreciate it. Wish i had these videos when i was a kid buying nes games. The box art made it look way better than the actual game lol.

Overall the characters are two dimensional and unlovable. The battles feel repetitive and lacking in reward. The format is basically the same as all other Pokémon games but with a new coat of paint, it feels like I’m still playing first gen but slightly different.

On the opposite side of the spectrum the graphics are beautiful, the wild area is fun to explore, and the cooking mechanics are nice but not as useful as I’d hoped.

They could’ve made the game better by breaking this formula and going for a larger, more open world setting. I want the botw treatment for Pokémon. I despise the fact that Pokémon railroads the ever living fuck out of you and that absolutely needs to change along with voice acting. Although I don’t know how feasible these visions are, the Pokémon team works on a very strict time schedule having only been allotted a few years to complete sword and shield. I’d rather wait half a decade for a masterpiece than a couple of years for the shit show we see today.

Yoooo this is like the first time I’ve watched your videos BEFORE buying. Watched Arceus and found out it’s not like the classic Pokémon. (Last Pokémon game I played was Emerald lol) Definitely getting this over Arceus.

Honestly, not gonna lie, voice acting in video games always takes me out of the moment. The voices just never sound how I want/expect them to. I would be content if I never hear a voice in a Pokémon game.

It makes no sense to get rid of mega evolution after making so many designs for a ton of different Pokémon. These ppl wasting money and time.

Final fantasy 7 remake is a very big game, and the pokemon franchise is way bigger then final fantasy and yet they do it. Voice acting should be added by now.

imma just buy it second hand eventually when it goes down to 30 canadian just so I don't have to pay game freak for a rehashed low-effort cash grab

I think my dear biggest disappointment is that they don’t have a voice acting like this isn’t the Nintendo DSI or any type of DS handheld console like why are we still resulting in text reading dialogue, but tbh it’s not like I still won’t read it still cuz that’s how much of a gamer I am.

The new Pokemon Arceus doesn't have voice acting my main big complain about the game so far and this one really feels like it needed it
