Five Miles From Town

This popular tune from Clyde Davenport, now 98 years old, is Banjo Hangout's Tune of the Week for 3/8/19. It's upbeat melody is syncopated and lively. Dan Levenson, the tune's presenter describes it with these words: "You may notice this tune seems to begin even before it ends or that you can find yourself into it again before you realize, even if you thought it was a last time through! A lot of us old timers refer to it as a tune that eats it own tail. Circular, but so cool and wi ley that you almost have to work to end it." I sure enjoy playing it and was tickled that the turkeys were behind me doing their thing, but then looking at me when I ended!
