Peterbilt should look at putting the new Deere 18L in trucks. No DEF required and the torque output is outstanding. 908hp 3135tq

My owner/operator neighbor just got a new x15N natural gas truck to replace his older X12N, he fuels up at home with his existing residential natural gas supply with what looks like a big S.C.U.B.A. compressor, at 20 gallons per hour fill rate he can easily refuel overnight, his fuel cost is around 0.89 cents per gallon. His daily route is Vegas to Salt Lake and back. I'm sure he's saving a fortune.

I can relate the company I’m with we have the Efficiency series 500HP 1850TQ with that garbage progressive shift with fuller RTLO18918B 3.36 rears and the shifting SUCKS! But I have been doing Cummins for a long time Cat being my #1 go to but anyway I digress peak HP has always been 1800RPM peak torque Was 1200rpm. For instance I’m looking at an old spec sheet for my signature 6 Cummins says Peak HP 600HP @1800 and peak torque 2250@1200rpm.

I have a 2019 freightliner cascadia with a Cummins x15 efficiency series engine, bought new. It’s mated to a 10 speed manual and 3.08 rears. I’m coming up on 553,000 miles. The lifetime mpg is 8.08, although in October I had the engine re-rated from 450hp. 1750tq to 1850tq. Cummins said that I would need to upgrade some components to raise the hp.
I’m satisfied with the setup.
Other than replacing some sensors and the def manifold, the truck is a reliable setup. I have not yet needed the dpf cleaned.

Mike I was up at your shop picking up an imap sensor for my efficiency series last week. I’m from Ontario and I’m not happy with the efficiency series engine pulling a 3 axle rgn around anywhere. My question is could I tear my block right down to nothing and with the right parts purchased turn it into a performance 565 or even the productivity 605(x600). ?? Thanks.

Hi Mike I am not sure, will you answer to my question but I need some clarification about Productivity Series. I know that it has 2 Hardware Setups: Efficiency with up to 500hp and Performance with 565hp and higher.

Productivity can hold 2000rpm, we understand it.

Questions:
#1 Does it mean that because of higher rpm level the Productivity Series is more reliable than Efficiency Series? Why?

#2 Any Engine sets with block and head ( just so everyone could understand ) . Does the productivity series engine have the block, pistons etc same as or from performance series? Is it correct that the crankshaft in productivity series same as in performance series? As I know that in efficiency series it’s crankshaft is much weaker.I would like to know.

#3 Even if productivity series has the hardware from economical series, the true efficiency series will have better fuel efficiency than Productivity Series with Efficiency Hardware, but will be there the fuel consumption difference in mpg really high or they are not too far away or really close to each other.

Thank you a lot let God Bless you!

So basically you still have 2 X15 : the Efficiency Series and the Performance Series.

But now, there is a new rating available for both called the "Productivity Series". It's basically the fully unlocked X15 with all the power, all the torque and all the revs.
The other are the "fleet" ratings.

You can switch between Efficiency/Performance and Productivity with a "simple calibration change".

When I was little (72 now) people didn't hide their kids from uncle mike who siped on booze and smoked a cigar. People watched cigarette ads on tv an the car ads had girls in skivvies hanging off of them. They lit his cigar, put slippers on uncle mike an he told stories of the indians attacking their settlement (just that, stories) and now a child sees a person with a cigarette or a bottle and they whisper in moms ear "he is not a nice person is he". And so we have Def in our fuel tanks to regen or eat a bad piece of our air system. I can remember kit trucks when government raised taxes on new trucks so high that we couldn't licence our rigs.... big companies would register every truck, just not every month so every rig got around six to eight months licence tabs and we kept up on fuel permits... our bingo card was kinda full. Its the direction of our countries and the politics thereof

A lot of waffle , you may have got your point across ? Here in the UK/Europe truck manufactures usually build 70 - 90 % in house chassis/engine/box/axle/electrics , the last UK truck manufactures to build with Cummins/Cat/Rolls Royce - Perkins were ERF (brought out by MAN)Sedden Ackinson(owned by Paccar)Foden (dont know but long gone) and Leyland brought out by DAF/Paccar Daf did bring out a LHD only 500 Cummins , Volvo allegedly collaberated with Cummins on there FH series engine .
As you are in the Industry how does the Volvo FH 16 (up to 750bhp) engine compare or the Scania V8 ( somewhere between 14 -18 litre - they do a few V8's) to the Cat C15/16 or the Cummins IXS/X15 ? I already Know both smoke the Paccar/Daf engine . Ask a Dutchman ! As for parts for a Scania , Sweden , thats where they make Scanias ... Dou.. 😁
