most of the issues are dealer issues ..
these were not Harley Davidson factory issues. I mean if you like Harleys, don’t blame the brand.
there is a pricing guide for labor called a flat rate manual. I was a motorcycle mechanic at three different dealerships. I got paid flat rate. If the manual said I would get paid one hour for changing/swapping out a pair of handlebars, then I would make one hours pay at whatever the flat rate was at that time. If it took me 45 minutes, I still got paid for an hour. But if it took me five hours, I only got paid for one hour.
most mechanics, in fact, every mechanic I have ever worked with at those different dealerships, could always beat flat rate. Example.
if I had to put a head gasket on a Honda, CB 750 which required pulling the engine. I would get paid eight hours labor. But I could do that job in five hours… I still got paid eight hours..
warranty work was different, you had to go buy that manual, and it always pay the mechanic Less.. The flat rate manual for that same job doing warranty work, would only pay about five hours pay, because they knew how long it would actually take..
pretty much every mechanic hated doing warranty work for that reason..
you know, the fact that that dealer overcharged you, that was actually worth it to you. Look what you have learned.
It’s like lending a friend money, ….if you never see them again—— It was worth it…

I only went to Harley because I had some jet skis I wanted to dump and they gave me what I wanted for them. It worked out where he couldn’t screw me iver if they wanted to sell me the bike, win win for me but now they won’t leave me alone and are trying to get me on a street glide so bad I get at least 1 call a week.

The fact that you purchased it means they didn’t learn any lessons. Keep giving them your money, they’ll keep requiring you to drop your pants. Withholding money is the only thing they understand!

Q: How do you know a salesman is lying?
A: His lips are moving.
Sad but true. I know it's a hassle to sell a vehicle privately, but I'd rather do that than put up with a dealer's BS.

I went to a harley shop, to buy the 500 with 27 miles. After the paperwork was done a $5000 bike price shot up to $12,000 they didn't know I had cash in hand I told them it was a great price I hung for about an hour. Checking out the dealership until I seen the dealer snickering about the possibility of the sale. I told them I will be back...left and bought a Royal ENFIELD shotgun 650 instead..dealerships act like used cars salesman. Totally turned off on that dealership. Just out of curiosity I called another harley davidson shop, about the same 500 bike and a guy gave me a price of $6300...no harley davidson ever

I love my Harley, but have yet to meet an honest, helpful dealer. The pushy salespeople don’t know details of their own bikes, are very aggressive trying to upsell, but discourage requested mods to the bike before purchasing, and every financial person is a sarcastic jerk. It’s really annoying. That along with Harley going woke means my next bike purchase will be an Indian

Bought my bike from a dealership that told me before I bought it that they would treat me like family, then charged me 10K over MSRP. When my roommate went to the 3WMC the dealership treated her like she knew nothing about bikes. H-D must not want to sell bikes.

I contacted the Harley-Davidson dealership in Reno Nevada, told the guy what I was looking for and then they proceeded to spam me with texts and emails and phone calls incessantly. Sending me examples of anything but what I asked for what period they were pushy and overbearing and it turned me off to even buying a Harley-Davidson. I am with a private route and bought a Victory Cross Country

I did my BRC course at a Harley Dealership in the panhandle of Florida, if you have been in this area, you can probably narrow it down. There are only three dealerships in that area. During this training, they of course have a part where you go out to the floor and "find the bike that fits you the best" well I go to the preowned lot, and a salesman begins to help me.

I ask a simple question that I legitimately didn't know the answer to at the time "what's the difference between a Dyna and a Softail?" I could not get an answer from him, it took his manager to come over and explain the difference. The same salesman proceeded to pester me weekly for about a month and a half to come ride on a bike and buy one.

I've now owned three Harley's, and all of them I have purchased through private sale with either cash, preapproved loan, or both. I don't think I will ever purchase from one of their dealerships. Especially with the horror story you just told. I'm glad it finally worked out but that is a horrendous experience.

It’s pretty obvious that dealer was screwing with you.
I suspect they decided they did not like you. Please don’t think I’m saying you did anything wrong.
You questioned their scam on your trade-in… A scam probably run with every person that trades bikes in.
That put a hair up their ass and they decided they’re going to teach this guy lesson since he’s probably not coming back anyways.

I’m gonna say something good about my nearby HD dealership in Owen Sound, ON.
That had a Honda VTX 1300 used for sale, it was a local trade in. I wanted to trade in my 9 year old minty-ish Suzuki VStrom. Easy negotiations and only $1500 in difference paid with the taxes and I was out the door in a week. Pickup and drop off was done inside a week as planned, everything was buttery smooth! Their old name was “Fox Harley Davidson!” Their new name is Georgian Bay HD. It helps that the sales guy was used to working with veterans from a nearby Army Training base, he respected that fact that I ran matches (precision rifle; read…..sniper) on base. You Merican cousins would call us “CMP” or civilian marksmanship program (equivalent). The dealings could not be any better. Life is Good!! Peace Be The Journey!

They rebuilt the motor, andonly replced the front jug,and left all the old parts in the motor.😮 not the way it should be done , the motor only had 22k at the time. Wasnt Happy to jave the bike. You think thats easy? Its like trying to sell apples for $300 a piece.

I'm done with Harley Davidson completely. I bought a bike they refused to negotiate on because they "practically rebuilt it."
The final sale price was 2k more than what they had listed and there's no record of my 2k down payment ever being applied. The bike was delivered with no keys, a dead battery, and won't even run. Harley won't make it right either.

I am 72 years young. I started riding 60s triumphs 50 years ago. This year I bought a 92 GL1500. Them old bones need comfort so it's the GL1500 that will provide me that. I look at it this way that Great Iron Steed will out last me. It has only 53k on it. When at the pearly gates first question I will ask Pete is where do I find the Honda dealership. I hear tell there is no Harley dealership beyond the pearly gates. The bad guy got the franchise.

Harley has some of the worst service I've ever delt with. I've had 2 other bikes a kawasaki and a Yamaha, no issues. But those were also small dealers, mom and pop run places. The dealers o delt with for harley though suck, customer service isn't a thing I think. Everything from calling to see if they have parts, getting told they do and then getting there being told oh we made a mistake we don't have them. Bro I drove 45 minutes cause you're the only ones that said they had it, WTF!? And some of their techs are just plain dicks.

Not for nothing, since covid, customer service is crap, in all retail, may it be bikes, cars, regular everyday shopping. With that said, last year I bought a brand new Indian Motorcycle. Also was told 4+ weeks, for shipping, now I could of had one that day, but it wasn't what I wanted so I was willing to wait. Long story short, bike came in 3 weeks, extras I wanted was put on within a day, I was riding earlier than expected. Since then the dealership has been fantastic. Just food for thought.
