The WEG collaborated with the Canal and River Trust and the RSPB to make and install this sand martin colony box on Diglis Island, Worcester towards the end of March 2022. It has been amazingly successful with sand martins moving in almost immediately and by the end of July 35 2020 fledglings had left the nest with a second brood of 15 eggs are read to hatch!
What's extraordinary is that one of the birds that was ringed was discovered down at Lands End. Nature is amazing, isn't it? We feel so privileged to have had a role to play in giving nature a helping hand.
