I do highly recommend switching to survival, when you play in freedom you don't have to worry about food or water and nothing can hurt you. Kind of ruins the fear factor of the game

Why does every playthrough somehow miss the words in the PDA that say START HERE? Nobody seems to follow the guideline of RTFM.

Not playing this game in survival mode for your first playthrough is really stupid. With no food or water requirment and no creature can dmg u makes the entire game honestly not even worth playing. Its a survival game so why would u turn off the survival mechanics. Its like playing Amnesia where the monster cant kill u so whats even the point.

Subnautica is only scary if you let it scare you.

I'm thalassemiaphobic, which means I'm afraid of deep water, but games are different than the real world, yet when I played this, it was crazy how my senses and eyesight to this game almost gave me the "real" feeling of deep water.

But the deeper I went, it was a video game as I saw the alienistic features so it went opposite as if I went from 1700 meters to 2 meters to surface in a flash.

So yeah, Subnautica is a fun game to play!

I hope this is taken in the way it's meant. I love watching subnautica playthroughs, but playing on 'freedom' mode is almost cheating, it certainly takes much of the challenge out of it. Enjoy yourself, play how you want but I hope you understand why I won't be watching further.

It's a shame your first play through wasn't with the full game enabled. You only get one first time. The people who recommended freedom mode did you a disservice. I wouldn't take their advice again in the future.

I recommend making the tools. Knife, scanner, flashlight, ect. Scan trash can, and the items for inside the boxes.

Awesome to see a first time player that fills up their inventory with seed clusters rather than acid mushrooms. It's almost always acid mushrooms. lol

- Probably the easiest "First Time Encounter" with a Crashfish I have ever seen in this game. Seems like the Crashfish spawned on the wrong side of the landscape, pretty sure I heard it do its Kamakazi run and explode, but was nowhere to be seen. Lucky.
