I love how reluctantly impressed Martok is by Nog's tenacity. It's like he's thinking there's a bit of a Klingon in him.
Ответитьnow isnt that calling the kettle black. they used to sit in that same spot for hours on hours.
ОтветитьThe fact that “scurrilous” is a word in common conversation proves that Star Trek is not a utopia. The Federation is just too pretentious.
ОтветитьThat was such a great scene. But then we go right back to generic space war series.
What a waste of wonderful characters.
I met Martok at convention, was awesome to see and take picture with legend himself
ОтветитьI always liked Martok for this. It's such a little thing, and could have easily fallen into a klingon trope where they laugh at him and ignore him.
ОтветитьGeezer.
ОтветитьThis was always one of my favorite scenes, it really showed how much Nog had grown. And simultaneously demonstrates Martoks and Klingon honor.
Nog demonstrates Starfleet ideals but knowing how to interact with other cultures according to their customs. Nog will always be one of my favorites. I hope Arons resting well.
And tangentally it reminds of me the episode "Coming of Age" in TNG S1:E19. Wesley stands up to a Zaldan in an impromptu test. We all like to bully Wesley(so do I) but I feel like those scenes are somewhat similar.
Edit: Conflated Erin and Armin for a second.
For the sheer amount of character development that Nog got, it's hard to believe that Aron Einsenberg was never credited as main cast.
Ответить"Jake. I know your track record. You never get past talking."
NOG WHY THE DISRESPECT
“You’re either very brave, or very stupid ferenghi.”
“I get it from my uncle”
Respect Nog's gangster.
ОтветитьI'd like to imagine that when the Officer Exchange Program resumed, Martok personally requested Nog, remembering this.
ОтветитьThis moment was later brought up in Star Trek Online with Martok telling others what happened. He had a lot of respect for Nog
Ответитьat this very moment, history was made, nog won the respect of martok
ОтветитьThis scene also did a lot for Klingons, not just for Nog.
Klingons always were shown as being honorable, but TNG and DS9 started showing that they were just as cunning and conniving as Romulans.
So having Martok be the honor Klingon we were told about was a good thing
And with the advice Sisco gave him, whe Martock waks away, that little Ferengi grew to be over 6 feet (2 meters).
Ответитьits no suprise nog is not oly a war hero, but an eventual captain of a starfleet vessle
ОтветитьHa, promenad!
Ответитьtake the time to make playlists for your videos... almost subbed.. but im not running back to click another vid after every vid.. channel your inner channel into a channel ;)
Ответитьwhat i liked the most about nog is that he showed very perfect how someone can define himself and not be define by his people. he was very brave and good hearted. a peoples person... some would say it runs in the family...
ОтветитьMartok respects Nog, but he also warns him to choose his battles a little more wisely. Respect will only get you so far.
ОтветитьSmiles
ОтветитьI like how Martok indicates his lost eye when talking about tempting fate, showing that he's speaking from experience.
ОтветитьMartok was rewarding courage and honesty, but also teaching his fellows that you cannot merely rely on your status as a klingon warrior to avoid conflict. Because even in the seemingly small and weak there is courage and bravery. And even though he would have won that battle handily, it is best not to tempt fate.
That statement wasnt just for Nog.
A life-long DS9 fan, and I can't believe I never noticed that Martok was pointing to his scarred-over eye socket (in a way his subordinates couldn't see) when he said "don't tempt fate" What a wise guy, ha.
ОтветитьViewers' gained a lot of respect for both Nog and Martok because of this exchange. The DS9 writers and performers really knew how to create dynamic characters.
ОтветитьThe actor playing Nog was one of the best ever in trek, in my humble opinion.
ОтветитьCourage comes in all sizes.
ОтветитьI sure Nog pissed himself after that confrontation.
😂😂😂
I like that when he quotes a station regulation he uses 'clearly states', like it's a Rule of Acquisition.
ОтветитьI do like that Martok doesn't try to pull "Do you know who I am?"
ОтветитьA true warrior does not beat on those weaker than they are for an ego battle.
ОтветитьI love it! Nog is firmly standing his ground while going eyeball to eyeball with Martok who is towering over him as he admits, "probably a little of both", but yet doesn't flinch. No Klingon alive worthy of the name could ignore that kind of bravery. I never get tired of this scene.
ОтветитьMartok portrays a more thoughtful side of Klingon warrior culture with his appreciation for different forms of bravery. He makes a similar observation of Garak when he is struggling against his claustrophobia to aid their escape from the Dominion prison camp.
ОтветитьA series with Nog as a captain would be amazing. He would be the pride of starfleet and a stellar diplomat.
ОтветитьLoitering??? It's the promenade, it's meant for loitering ! ! !
Centuries from now, people will still be racially profiled.
'Good spots' are 'good spots.' One of the more interesting segments of this series. A Ferengi challenging a Klingon. That had to get around, falling on the ears or lobes of all sorts of folks in the franchise.
ОтветитьI just noticed how low that railing is. Holy cow, how did they not have people falling right over that?
Ответить"Courage comes in all sizes"
- General Martok.
The station has a security team to enforce the rules. I can't imagine that Odo was happy to have Nog doing his job. There would have been words, I am sure. Was Nog working for Odo at the time? I can't remember the episode.
It was a fun little scene, of course.
"Courage comes in all sizes."
Sadly, so does stupidity.
Martok was pretty happy seeing Nog having the balls to "arrest" him
He was even singing his praises in STO lol
Martok was the absolute best.
ОтветитьThe question is could Nog have beaten him in a fight?
ОтветитьLobes the size of the Gamma Quadrant
ОтветитьThat was a klin-gone maneuver.
ОтветитьRIP Nog (Aron Eisenberg) the bravest Ferangi there ever was. Even losing a leg in the Dominion War couldn’t keep him down.
ОтветитьToday is Aron Eisenberg’s birthday 🥹
