Brutal Heretic - Epic Magical Carnage

Alright, everyone! It seems that my dedication towards Heretic hasn't died yet, and as a result of that, I'll allow myself to gladly show you the game being played with a neatly crafted mod called Brutal Heretic RPG. The mod makes the game a lot more satisfying to play. The weapons pull more weight, the staff isn't a piece of garbage melee weapon as it can put in a flurry of hits, and the enemies' deaths are a little more gruesome than it already is. Not to mention the extra sound and special effects that are added. You'll always be making a lot of mess everywhere you go.

While most things remain the same, some changes were implemented by this mod, like the weapons behaving differently when being powered up with the Tome of Power. For example, a powered-up Eternal Crossbow doesn't shoot more projectiles, and after the shots disappear, they leave deadly exploding trails, which can be very useful when you're against a large number of enemies. Speaking of enemies, a few of them have new attacks as they are more aggressive. Just wait until you fight the sabreclaws to even notice that they can leap at you with their blades.

Another big thing that has been added to the game is the small RPG elements, like gaining XP points and leveling. If you kill enemies, the white bar at the top left corner, the XP bar, will fill up. Maxing it out will make you level up, making Corvus stronger by increasing his health and armor capacity. There are pickups that the enemies drop when they are killed that can fill your health and armor a little, so whenever you feel like that you're at risk of dying, then you might as well not leave those little pickups behind.

In conclusion, if you're getting tired of playing the same vanilla gameplay of Heretic, then this is the mod for you. It may be a bit more difficult, but it's very satisfying to play. I never felt a lot better blasting gargoyles away into red mist.
