Is this the EASIEST LIPLINER Ever?! (6000 People Think So)

Out of nowhere, I saw a video with this Maybelline Color Sensational lip liner in the color Gone Griege. I decided to pick it up. It’s like MAC stone but not as gray. More mauve in it. I loved the color, but I was shocked at how long it lasted! All day! Longer than any of my high end lip liners! Longer than Charlotte Tilbury and longer than Makeup Forever Pencil Extreme (my two longest lasting lip liners). Now I want more colors!

I don't think they were trying to come out with a product that is full of exciting colors. They're marketing this as a lip liner for beginners so the it makes sense that the colors are mostly neutral and easy to wear.

This is what bothers me when influencers talk about products. Too often they forget to judge the product based on who the target consumer is instead of by whether the product works for or appeals to them.

Merit didn't come out with this product expecting it to appeal to professional makeup artists. So the question is, does it do what they're claiming it does?

Thank you for this review. I was hesitant on purchasing these because of the description. Sheer and creamy texture…sheer has me intrigued because I personally do not care for lipliners and the majority of the time use sheer glossy lipsticks. I’m always looking for one that matches my lip color. My most used lipliner is actual clear. But there are times that I do like some definition. It’s the creamy texture that just couldn’t get me to purchase…my thought was it just defeats the purpose of what a lipliner does. I may try one to see if it works for me. I may be surprised. I grew up in the 80s and 90s...a pencil is a pencil, a cream is a cream...been doing that for years. Most eye liners dont help my eyes pop but theres so many lip liners i use on them...i use lipstick as blush more than i use blush as blush. I just thought it made sense

It gives me Maybelline Lifter Liner vibe. Even the colours are similar. But Maybelline is not just creamy but holds the shape and definition.That is a good one. The Merit does not look good. I like the colours (fair peachy skin with green eyes), but your video was accurate and convincing that I do not need these. Not that I have the chance to try Merit products, it is unavailable from Hungary. But I want to understand the hype.. most of the content creator raving about Merit, but I don not see on the videos why is the hype... with avery other products as well. It is average, at most. Thank you for the honest review. (and it is overpriced for what it is.. and if I do not want a defined lip- I do not use lip liner, just chunky pencils. RMS also one of my favourite lip liner, and it can give similar effect as Merit liner on top of a generous amount of oily lipbalm)

I think the colors would work for my mature fair skin, but the fact that it is so soft, it would make me crazy how fast I would go through it. But the sheer formula is intriguing.

I have vertical lines around my lips as any woman of my age would have. I would like honest advice, is there any special lip liner which can stop a lipstick from bleeding? Which would be the best lip liner to use to help to eliminate the fethering, in your opinion? Thank you for all your hard work, your advice and great videos.

When I wear lip liner, my color still bleeds, and I dont look put together. And I've tried several colors and brands. What am I doing wrong?

I bought one and I’m using it up fast because it’s so soft and I find the colour too grey , I wished I picked another colour .

I completely agree about lip liner. It is my favorite makeup step that , some lashes and the skin tint and I'll walk out the door 😂 I like the nabla lip liners. They do not budge😊

Hi, I noticed you used the RMS morning dew lip liner is considered a cool dusty rose. The RMS lip color Jayne is a warm tone. Did you mention you don't like cool tone lip liners.What do u think about the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat liners? I am 100% Italian. I have brown hair with lighter highlights, a light olive complexion and brown eyes. Would I be in the warm tone category? Can I still wear shades of pink lipstick? If so, which shades of pink? I don't care for neutrals. I have always worn lighter satin ( frost type) lipsticks. Thank you. I went into Sephora and the ladies there weren't too much help. After awhile they hand you over to another associate and I felt defeated. Thank u for your advice.❤

At 73 I really don't like too much lining definition so the Merit lip liner called Beverly Hills was perfect and I paired it with two of the lip oils...Pink Beet and Marrakech. It gives me a softer look then other harsher liners that are not as soft as the Merit liner.

Love your videos. Can you do a video on the proper way to line your lips? I can't seem to get mine right. I think I finally found my shade the NYX Line Loud lip liner products. It seems that many companies are trying to make multi-use products.

It's so nice to hears that you're honest about this new lip liner. The last thing I'd want is for it to run into my lines around my lips.

Could it be blurred because you keep rubbing it off with your finger?

I can’t thank you enough for the timely honest review! I almost got caught up in the hype with so many influencers jumping on the bandwagon and touting how wonderful it is. You pointing out that it doesn’t give definition made me realize that I that I could just lightly line, then fill my lips in with my favorite lip liner and top it off with lip oil or gloss to achieve the same effect. You saved me some money since I had 3 colors in my Sephora cart ready to go.😅

My Gram grew up in the depression. She used lipstick as blush since it was the only cosmetic she could afford

I have always used my products for multi purposes. It's a great way to create a really cohesive colour story. I have used my blush on my lips and eyes, used my bronzer on my eyes, used my contour on my brows, used my brow product as eyeliner, etc.

Is it really that different? The $2 ELF lipliner is also creamy and wears down fast. It would cost way more to make its packaging a twist up stick…

I love those colors! But I'm a lot older than you and I like a natural look. Lining lips on mature women with a dark lip liner with paler lipstick and sticky gloss is not pretty or natural.

I agree these liners make no sense to me. I like definition and these colors would look terrible on me as I have a warm olive skin tone.

I can find lipliners that I like but these days, beauty companies only seem to be offering lip products in cool pink tones, mauves, roses, and dark colors. I look best in shades that are warm neutrals, true pink, coral, peach and even orange red. Is my skin tone so “off trend”?

Hi Gabi! I like that they go on easy but that's it, I don't care for the lack of definition. I like a lipliner that creates an objective, defining what we have, taking away, correcting or for a bold lip look. I don't care for the shades or the gloss. Sorry Merit, they didn't woo me to want to purchase them; I respect others who have their reasons for liking them, they just don't suit my individual taste. wink :)
