I like that everyone was lazy enough to not search for those videos, and make it a lost media from another world.

I think the movie that gave me the Mandela effect was the “talk to me” viewing you did! As soon as you said that, that’s how I remembered you.

Amanda, I’m not gonna say that you’re wrong but I swear to God you talked about it because if it wasn’t you then who was it maybe Kenny but I swear to goodness I watch one of you guys because I’ve never seen the first movie either. I thought I just watched your video.

Mandela effecting a movie review is kinda funny. I'm pretty sure there's been enough reviews of the original Smile that they must have seen someone else cover it.

Smile 4 everyones just gonna be crazily running around offing themselves in front of each other in the market place. There will just be a few folks left with bandanas around their eyes... kinda like Bird Box.

I fucking HATED this movie. It relied entirely on shitty fucking jumpscares that never changed. The same damn setup, the same damn payoff, EVERY. TIME. This movie’s head was so far up its own ass, it was getting high off of its own farts. I’ve already seen a movie about a famous person going through their trauma this year and it was far beyond anything this movie attempted to accomplish. Better music, better cinematography, better acting, and BETTER MUSIC THAN THE MOVIE ABOUT A POPSTAR.

TLDR; go watch The Substance instead.

What bugs me about both the first and this is the movie is all about dealing with mental health and in the first film she confronts her trauma and seemingly is able to overcome it but nope.

It feels really cruel to make a movie about a suicide demon and the outcome is "even if you face it, you'll still die."

I admit, in this one she tries to take an easy way out and maybe you can argue because of that she's not able to defeat it...but Rose didn't deserve that ending.

Otherwise it works. But the endings are just cruel. And I have no interest in a third movie about a bunch of high schoolers killing themselves.

These movies big don’t work for me. ‘Less than the sum of the parts’ kind of deal, cuz the performances and cinematography are great, the effects are great(though sparse for me), the sound is awesome, I love the nasty monster.. There are parts I really dig, like the weight plate death was about perfect. Maybe it’s a post-Terrifier world for me, but I feel like these arent as cruel as they wind up being at their endings. Especially in light of the blatant themes of trauma, suicide and its contagious potential, the endings are almost unacceptably bleak. That plus the ‘no rules no logic’ point you touch on, plus the weird pace of reveals, not to even blame the obvious which is that this is the so-so stepchild of The Ring and It Follows. It actaully pissed me off when once again we infect the MC immediately so there will be almost no body count for the movie and a super predictable overall arc. I feel like they even under-used the signature smile in 2. Eh, C+

One thing I really appreciate about the Gemma twist in smile 2 is that at one point you see skye check her phone and can see that Gemma hasn't replied at all, even after the first night she seemingly stayed with Skye.

I totally forgot that in the first Smile movie, Joel discovered that all the infected people committed suicide within a week. The exception was Robert Talley, who instead murdered someone, and the key witness to the murder continued the suicide chain. At the beginning of Smile 2, Joel has been infected for six days, time is running out and he finally decides to try Robert Talley’s strategy. He attempts to kill one of the drug dealers in front of the other, passing the curse on to someone who deserves the bad Karma. Instead the brothers both end up dying in a shootout with Joel, and because Lewis Fregoli (Lukas Gage) witnessed their deaths, it was passed on to him.

I think that everything in the Klink was fake and a memory of Skye before the tour because we know she lost her painkillers and wanted some strong ones but didn't get them because of her drug abuse history and i think that since she never got any of those Pills and had to deal with the Pain it was a Memory from what happened beforr she went on tour because she couldn't handle the pain of her Back and the Smile entity used that to fuck with her Mind because her Mom was fine afterwards when she stood on stage and we know it can control your Body and mess with your Mind at the same time, so i think The Smile entity used it because at that moment she Probley wanted to kill her Mother because of the Stress but didn't and we also know Gemma was never there so it's all a Fucked up stuff what happened before and the tour at least that's what i think

I personally don't like comparing Smile to It Follows because in It Follows the entity just lingers around and pops up now and again and the MC thinks she's crazy cuz she thinks she's seeing things. In Smile this demon literally f***s with you lol it purposely messes with the person's life, feeds on their trauma and makes it worse. It takes pleasure in it's host pain and then kills them afterwards, so no I don't think it's really the same thing imo

The movie was ok, I think the biggest problem was making the protagonist so unlikable. They should have had HER driving the car, then crashing because she was under the influence. The way it is in the movie has her straight up man slaughtering him. She’s also extremely toxic to those around her. There’s nothing about her character that makes her worthy of sympathy.

I saw Smile films. I haven’t seen a short film. I think the first film was okay. I like the performances from Sosie Bacon and Kyle Gallner. I like the second film more than the first film. I enjoyed Naomi Scott’s performance. I like the story in the second film. The Smile Monster design looks good too. Awesome review.

I have to say I was very disappointed w/ the sequel or felt like it was unnecessary bc it was a rinse and repeat. We learned absolutely nothing new about the Smile demon/entity. I also am not a fan of watching 45 mins of illusions that have no real consequences. 45 mins is a long time to say, “it was all a dream”. If they do make a 3rd one, that is the more interesting idea but tbh, we cld’ve skipped the whole 1st movie then bc it wasn’t super necessary since the 2nd movie didn’t add anymore to the lore.

I hated almost everything about smile 2 compared to the first... EXCEPT the ending and to a lesser extent the apartment chase (mostly because I thought the black dude looked like kawhi Leonard and I couldn't stop laughing about it), I didn't think smile 2 needed to exist but they couldn't have had a better set up for a 3rd film.
