Reels captions need to be short. In my experience, people aren't going to stop and read if they see a book on your reels because it's content that is supposed to be consumed more quickly with the scroll feature. Also, IG is trying to mimic tik tok, and tik tok has short captions so it makes sense that it is the same. The best strategy is if you can combine a hook, call to action, and tell a short story in 2-3 sentences. I think longer captions work better for regular posts, however, the IG CEO literally said a few weeks ago that they aren't going to show photos to people anymore as video content is the new normal and what is expected. RIP photos :(
