I avoid having a social life like the plague because every friend I've ever had has turned on me for some weird mistake I can barely remember. First was my fault, so whatever. Second time, I think I didn't wanna play hockey or something because I hated it and things devolved from there. Third time, my friend was trying to avoid having a job by using me as a piggybank and things devolved from there. Fourth time was college and a series of awkward misunderstandings killed it.

I'm honestly exhausted with having a social life.

Even everyday social encounters drive me nuts. Had a comm teacher in college who told me my email sounded mean and aggressive or something along those lines. I think she was expecting smiley face emojis or something in the damn thing....

I'm essentially incapable of social banter and the few times I try and crack a joke, people take me deadly seriously. They just don't expect anything but complete seriousness from me. I'm reduced to one-sided fake laughter at my bosses bad jokes.

I am happiest when I am alone. One reason I prefer solitude is the freedom that it brings.

That explains why I'm an introvert

I went homeless for the first time about 6 or 7 rears ago. What I had plenty of during my 5 month vacation from a roof and shower. Was alone time. Lots and lots of good heart to hearts with myself. Now I have a roof and a shower, plus a roommate who is gone alot.Good solid after work alone. Love it, I am a better man and hum

There’s a lot of dumb shit I do because I have a slight lack of common sense but I mean I’m in the process of designing a new type of firearm in my head because I’ve always been fascinated with them my whole life as well as mechanics, and aircraft. I could design an airplane if I wanted to, I don’t really read however I play rpg video games and make a story up about the character I’ve made

Do not believe that highly intelligent people want to be alone, that is a lie. Someone is misleading people with false propaganda and videos for to cause chaos and other problems. I am highly intelligent, and I enjoy socializing with others.

Hmm lets see now. How to tell you why its not just intelligent people who like to be like that. Even a dumb one can be so. Its just how that person grew up as a kid. Home Alone or with others.

Just like a kid whose caretakers coo words of wisdom to make that child learn to be intelligent. And on the other hand caretakers who coo words of idiocy most likely from religious sermons to make that become dullards

The more you learn about our current state as humans and the world, the more likely it is to get depressed. The more you talk to people, the more you understand why it is the way it is, which leads to anger and frustration. I can't stop thinking and researching but I can and have to stop talking to avoid becoming a worse version of myself.

Then there is the COLD side of many mentally intelligent people!!! More balance would be good - duhh!!!

Most of these are BS plain and simple. These statements equate intelligence with a desire to be seen as intelligent. That's not the same thing as actually being intelligent.

I sometimes feel envious of normal people. They seem to understand each other, share interests and don't mind being in big groups for extended another of time. I don't necessarily think highly intelligent people want to be alone as much as they accept that being alone is preferable to being around the majority of people which they can not really relate to very well.

Does anyone ever experience sharing interesting facts with strangers in public and then they stare at you and tell you that’s interesting but don’t share anything interesting back so then you feel really awkward and also like they rejected the attempted gift of novelty and interesting entertainment you tried to give them?

People either cause problems or want me to solve their problems. I have enough of my own to deal with.

Too busy to listen to inane conversations. I would rather sit in the garden watching the birds or talk to my cats with my laptop and a crossword at hand..

It’s not that highly intelligent people prefer to be alone. It’s just that they don’t mind being alone. They can always find ways to keep themselves occupied.

I’ll stay dumb. Being smart sounds like how I felt as a bartender- or the only sober person at a party. They are all having fun and what they think are engaging conversations- but it just sounds like gibberish to the sober person.
It’s probably like how I feel with a group of 5 year olds. They say very cute things but it’s hard to hold a reciprocal conversation with them.😂
