I bought a 1 owner 24k mile 987 Cayman 3.4S but before purchase went over the car with a fine toothcomb. The paintwork was absolutely flawless in every way. This was a £19k 13 year old car.
To spend £87k on a car youred expect it to be perfect or as near as. Every used car will have signs of use and maybe some paintwork done but in this case whoever painted this car needs an eyetest.
Frozen Berry is a very rare colour and made in small batches. The colour would have had to be specially matched by a spectrometer which any good paint factor could have done.
This car needs the whole front end repainting or even possibly the whole car. Unbeliveable that a OPC thought it an acceptable job. Ive been selling cars for 22 years and wouldnt have a Astra for £5k on the forecout with a paint mismatch like this let alone a car 20times the price!
Seeing the car on a track and thrashed to within an inch of its life, needing a new clutch at 8k miles would also be a no no for me.
This car has rightly now been marked as a nail and likely will be extremely hard to sell. Id put its value at no more than £50K as its an auction car in reality.
You really dodged a bullet with this car.👍😮
sometimes life is so hard ! the crushing blows that fate deals us, and having the wrong coloured Porsche is at the top ! I'm not sure i could not cope, please don't give up on life, things will get better and don't forget time heals, may god be with you
ОтветитьIts not you its porsche ...they skk balls TBH ....expensive and waste of time imo
ОтветитьSo they just put it back up for sale, because they know that eventually someone with more money than sense will buy it. Not very good is it?
Ответитьunbelievable by porsche
ОтветитьA clutch after 4000 miles! Remember the rest of the drive train had this abuse, that is an average of 80,000 miles abuse (You would expect a clutch to last that far with a careful driver) in a short time. Whoever had it really gave it some. I wouldn't have considered it at all.
ОтветитьPS I Love the colour. I'd pay extra! Not this one though...
ОтветитьChallenge, sit on your hands and see if you can speak.
ОтветитьHi its still on the web site today 23/09/23
ОтветитьSo they did know about the defects ,and just hope no one notices ,With the bonnet sticker they could have got a new one from germany ,And you can tell a lot by the attention or in this case the lack of attention to detail....It is nice to know the big flash brand are just as bad as the budget brands ..Putting it straight back on the web is very Artrhur Daley like lol...Matt Armstrong does a better kob
ОтветитьGood general advice.
The standard of paint work that Porsche had done on that car was shocking.
I work in the automotive repair industry and have worked at Mercedes, VAG and Porsche dealerships. I do not think that work was carried out by an approved repairer.
Oh and nice Dovi t shirt.
I'd love to be in a position to not make the same mistake
Ответить@porsche sort your dealers out. This car is still for sale and doesnt meet criteria for your warranty. Yet dealer still trying to flog it. Better off bringing it back to your ownership and taking it off the road
ОтветитьI've been spraying cars for 48 years and I would never let a car go out like that. We check an check again before we paint a car and always blend into the other panel fading out the clearcoat. Wtf are Porsche thinking?
ОтветитьI have had this shoddy experience from Porsche ……almost identical. Having had 3 Porsches in the past, my last purchasing experience was so bad, just like yours, and have subsequently never bought a Porsche from a main dealership again. And just like you, they just put the relevant car up for sale again without addressing any of the issues I had brought to their attention, and some unsuspecting punter probably bought same.
Ответить...as was said always be on your guard...
ОтветитьI can't see the problem. Used Porsche, nice colour.
ОтветитьI have just bought a year old Taycan GTS Sports Turismo which I knew was a Porsche Head office car, so i asked if it was a track car at its Silverstone Experience Centre. This is the reply i got from the Porsche Dealer :- I can’t unfortunately confirm what Porsche have done with the vehicle or whether this was used as a track car, the GTS does not have additional PPF protection which is usually a telling sign if it has been tracked but cannot be a guarantee. I did what you suggested and typed the reg into google and found a picture of it from a forum post taken at the experience centre. The car has now done 6500 miles and the tyres are nearly worn out. Do i now have any recourse to go back to the dealer for compensation on the tyres?
Ответитьsad that even porsche would play these games. thank you for your honest review. when one is spending oodles of cash on a used car and going to a reputable dealer one expects if not perfection at least honesty.
ОтветитьRun Hard and put away very wet.
ОтветитьThat's one fugly colour. Dodged a bullet there.
ОтветитьThe unique color and it being a former press car should offer any owner a ton of provenance.
ОтветитьGreat work calling this out. You need to be meticulous when dropping this sort of money and it is disappointing that all this wasn't made clear up front, I absolutely get it. To then re-list the car and not attend to or describe the issues, this dealership absolutely NEEDS to be called out and I genuinely hope they don't forget this and improve their processes. Sadly this sort of thing is all too common.
ОтветитьExcellent advice, you know about cars,no doubt about that, keep posting please😃
ОтветитьYou knowingly bought a press car? I don't know where to start, so I will end here: You clearly have lead a charmed life if you believed that car had not had the shit beat out of it, and that if it had... it was somehow restored to perfection by a deeply honest automobile dealer? Oh wait a minute.... Your title is clickbait!! You DID NOT BUY the car- you just yammer on about your tender feelings about ALMOST making a really really bad decision. Why did YT feed me this tripe?
ОтветитьThe Taycan was painted here in the States. When it was brought over, Porsche wanted it in a different color for it's NA debut. The shop found out that if you resprayed a panel that there would be a noticeable variation in the color. They had to shoot the whole car at one time to get a consistent color.
ОтветитьWe recently went to look at a 911 at a main Porsche dealer. The car had just come back from being prepared to Porsche's high standards. Clearly this didn't extend to the seat belt cover which was hanging from the seatbelt and layed on the rear seat. The embarrased salesman brushed this off and clipped it back in place before the test drive. Needless to say, that particular Beetle is still for sale.
ОтветитьI’ll be honest, if that was me I’d have most likely bought that unseen and had my fingers burnt due to thinking an official Porsche dealer would not sell a lemon! It’s definitely opened my eyes to any future purchases so thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьI was in car sales - BMW - and no salesman wants a customer to come in on Saturday if they already have a deposit on a car, and “training course” could have been a way of putting you off coming in on a slow day where you’d have had plenty of time to look over it, to a busy day where they could have spared you much less time, or they needed to rectify something on the car and needed some time. Sounds very suss from the outset if I’m honest.
ОтветитьGlorious Putrescent Plum😆
Could be improved by a wrap in Dynamic Vomit Green...
Great story......but sorry😱😢😢. Very disappointing @PorscheGB 😡😠🤬
ОтветитьI’d say no thank you and order a new car and wait.
ОтветитьIn short, they need to use a better/ more skilled painter (the bummer is, there are fewer around these days that know how to "properly" do such work - "it truly is an art form/ same as duplicating/ repairing masterpiece art paintings")
ОтветитьCustomers like you companies don't need....😂
ОтветитьNo I think if they were dodgy they’d keep you e deposit. They tried their luck and they’ll try again and again mate. Til it’s sold. Well maybe not now this videos out 😂
ОтветитьThey should've just auctioned this used Volkswagen with full disclosure. This would've avoided another poor customer experience
ОтветитьThat's extremely disappointing from Porsche - I thought they were better than that. Some excellent tips for the unwary buyer there
ОтветитьYah I wouldn't touch that thing, imagine all those different bozos beating the crap out of that ugly car, grinding the gears etc. Sorry though, colors not for me but I love Porsche's!
ОтветитьNever trust used car salesmen it doesn’t matter who it is.
ОтветитьDefinitely not too fussy! And they definitely hid it in the parking garage with knowledge! Even if it was the body shop guys... as a body shop guy we watch for these tricks collecting cars from other places. Often times shaded spots and shadows and tree cover etc. Not to mention rain. I would’ve walked away too!
ОтветитьSorry for my comment on you other vid , I hadn't watched this vid so explains why you bought the GT4. keep up the good work...
ОтветитьHow much they accepted: no reason to keep it a secret.
ОтветитьVery well observed, how many would spot the paint difference, indoor, outdoor, bright sunshine, overcast weather, all can alter the appearance of the paint,
ОтветитьI think you were being too fussy but I understand why. You buy cars with the ultimate intention of driving the car as your own for a period while having one eye on selling the car as stock. Porsche advertised the car at a keen price and offered to fund remedial work to satisfy you. You on the other hand have chosen to publicly blacklist the car and make it difficult for Porsche to sell it. They will not forget. Good luck with your search.
