I Downgraded To The RTX 4070 & I Don't Regret It

I currently have a 3070 ti …. Is it worth upgrading to the 4070 ti?

Would you say that you could buy a 4070 made by ASUS rather than a FE

Let's be honest. You do NOT need a minimum of 16gb's of VRAM unless you're trying to play games in 4K or there's an outlier where a game actually uses that much VRAM due to using some raytracing implementation such as path tracing. In my honest opinion the absolute bare minimum of VRAM for gaming in 2024 going forward is 6GB's for the entry point of 1080p gaming. Whilst the recommended for 1080p is closer to 8GB's, 1440P 12GB's and 16GB+ for 4K.

Even if you go over your VRAM pool, 12gb's usually isn't that bad and it only a 20fps difference, so unless you're struggling to hit 60fps, it's not the worst issue out there and most of the time you just need to tune your settings instead of being lazy and going all Ultra.

funny story about microcenter dallas.

I got my friend into PC gaming and he didnt wanna build, so we found a powerspec within his budget and went to pick it up.

I asked the sales people if there was anyway we could boot it up to make sure it worked okay. They looked at me like i was crazy. They had me set up literally 3 feet from the customer service line. And sure enough... wouldnt post.

me and my 4070 because i was stuck with a 3050 and it was all anny pc stores in my area had :) also DO NOT get one at best buy, they charged me 1100 for it

If your strictly using this for gaming, get the AMD, if your needing it for More than Gaming like Video editing, Streaming, Machine learning (using Cuda cores and TensorTM) AND Gaming.. Nvidia is the overall pick. What AMD can do in gaming even with the extra few VRam, it cant do in all those other applications.

meh I wouldve bought a 3070 at msrp now I think ill just wait for the 50 series. my strix 1070 is still good enough for most games i play.

Have 3080Ti FE plentiful power for years.

After using RTX 2060 for 4yrs, upgrade to a RTX 4070 was a very good option for me.
Gives great stable fps at 1080p ultrawide (2560 x 1080)

Especially, thanks to an optimised power consumption in 4000 series, I could upgrade with an existing PSU.

My 3080 just died 2 days ago after needing to take it out to get to the SATA port to switch to another for my HDD

A lot of people are forgetting programs use tensor and RT it's not just about games these features upgrade with every new gen it's no logical reason to not upgrade if a person is using programs that use those features or upscaling as I do

Kinda new to pc got 2 graphics cards in my sights the 4060ti 16gb and the 4070 12gb will that 4gb of vram matter? I use my pc for vr currently running it on a 3050 lol

The 6950 xt has 4gb more vram and also games that are still not optimized at all and bugs/glitches so the gpus are more powerful also new drivers and such.

No, I don't want to target 1440p high with a 600$ card. I want 4k 60fps high with upscaling, I want a better than ps5 experience with a pc that costs twice as much as a console

The little 2 fan one is great, could do 16Gb tho....

Hard to recommend ITX when you could get a GPD Winmax 2 2023 and Oculink eGPU. Just own one computer, take it anywhere even mobile game, then go 4070 at home. Best of all worlds.

Mini itx enjoyer really have no choice but to go with 4070 for being ultra efficieny at 160w with single 8pin connector and small form factor (available at less than 250mm length).
AMD literally just stopped making small form factor gpu and poor efficiency for drawing too much power for the same fps.
Ray tracing is just bragging rights and brings nothing to the table.

If it were 16gb id pay the extra from a 6900xt but....for less, and only really dlss as the real reason to upgrade but get less vram......ummmmm ill wait to get a 5000 series

Ryzen 4070 is better than rtx 4070.

I bought Ryzen 7 7700 with liquid cool DDR5 with 4070, 1tb, 16gb ram and its a BEAST. Cost roughly 18 hunnit. BUT the performance he mentions, the refresh rate, the fps. Its just phenomenal. All the rgb lights give it a nice affect. I play all games sim games mainly well above 75 fps. Boots up in 10secs. To me its fully equivelent if not better than PS5 rn. Beamng, ATS, ETS2, Ships at sea, Oh even Star Citizen is so beautiful with no studders. I seat ATS an ETS2 on 60 hz cause game was made that way an it seamlessly plays 60fps all day. Not working it overtime for stuff thats not there. Works great with Audio Cards for OBS also. I SHOVE studio 1 as well an man. I absolutely love it. I play any game on steam with no problems. I cloud stream xbox, ps No problems. Yall save up an get you one you will not regret it. He will tell you why !!

I built a mATX that ive had for a few months...Ryzen7700x32gbDDr5-6000 with a ZotacRTX3060,12gb. Tomorrow Morning comes me Zotac4070! Cant wait to have dlss and push res beyond 1080p!

4070 has dlss which give a lot of fps if you running at 1440p or 4k, meanwhile amd gpu only has crappy fsr that give blurry images

Devs targeting higher vram useage just means they are just lazy in optimizing their games.

7800xt was the mvp this gen. With 4070 as a close second. The 7900 is not good value.

Just got one fir 500 at Walmart. From a 4060

It's not a bad card. But here in Portugal for example the cheapest 4070 is barely cheaper than the cheapest 4070 Super. and both of them are over 100€ more expensive than the more capable 7800 xt. I want to buy a 4070 for 500€ or less, but I can't.

Let me put this way: even if the 4070 was the same price (500€) as the 7800 xt it would still be a bad deal. It performs worse and has less vram. But at least you get NVidia's features so I would consider it. But ideally It would cost 450€.

I'm still happy with my 4070ti, but honestly I'm looking forward to those 5000 cards.
Wont get one at launch but will once the prices go down a bit.
