More and more, families with 6 figure incomes are having a hard time making ends meet. All that mean is that their ends are too far apart.

Why are you talking about what the "right" is going to do about rising costs. The "left" is and has been running the country. What is Biden and his handlers going to do about it?

THEY ARE LOOKING FOR HOW TO ARGUE "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY" If right wing think tanks spend as much time trying to solve real problems like this, rather than create pseudo scientific arguments against climate change or anything that might actually help average Americans. I am sure that soon we will hear about this index in context of how "nobody wants to work" or more likely we won't hear much about it and this index will be buried as it only proves that greed at the top is responsible for current situation. Wages didn't stagnate, the portion of generated wealth with increased productivity that should have gone to the workers in form of wage increases, was TAKEN by the management and CEOs and redirected upwards into profits and distributed to shareholder in form of dividends and obscene stock buybacks, and of course to themselves in form of bonuses and windfall profits from stock options.

You get what you vote for in this country. The liberals were extremely clear what their goals are….social ideals…The economy is not one of those things.

They haven’t failed to put their finger on this. The govt has changed the calculation of consumer price index (CPI) multiple times since it’s inception, each time it “just so happens” that inflation is at a lower number. Just go look at the charts on shadowstats of 1980 and 1990 method CPIs

Where’s Ryan do his grocery shopping. Food prices are similar. My mother used to have a shopping cart overwhelmed with food for what I carry out within a couple bags today.

In the Northeast:
A decent house in a safe zip code costs $600k+
Electricity, water, heat, etc. will cost $250+ month
A healthy week's worth of groceries for two people costs $250+
A reliable car costs $20k+
Health care costs and obligations will eat 15%+ of your income
Federal, state, and local taxes will eat 25%+ of your income without providing anything of use.

A couple needs $125,000+ per year to enjoy basic middle class securities, and that's before having children.

Especially, if you have something to lose. Being middle class in today's economy is like being stranded on a slippery sea cliff with oblivion napping at your heels knowing the tide will be coming in above your knees.

The republicans leading a populist movement is a joke on the working class within the party. Working class republicans are useful idiots voting against their own best interest. Working class democrats are no different. White collar or blue collar makes no difference. The welfare class living off money at the top of the social pyramid are the only ones that matter. If money is free speech, then bribery is legal.

I see some possibility for improvement in rising interest rates. We need to bring back savings and loans so that the welfare recipients at the top of the social pyramid are not the only ones benefiting from the relative safety of high interest rates. If mortgage interest rates go somewhere near 12% and 22% and interest rates on passbook accounts are below inflation, then there will be food riots on the streets.

Free market did get us inflation, government spending for things America cannot afford for 100 years did. The difference now is we've reached the end where the devaluation rate increases exponentially at a rate everyone sees. Buckle up because the dollar is going to zero, hyper inflation, and the savior for the world is the Bitcoin standard.

Electronic costs went down because of globalization. Healthcare, Housing, Education, and to some extent Food can’t be globalized… it’s not like you can manufacture a house cheaply and ship it to the US from China, for example.

The "safety net" is designed to punish those who don't "produce" enough for the American system. If you land in it, you're supposed to be sufficiently terrified to get out any way possible. Kind of a lousy way to run your society.

Worse than that the boomer and gen x-ers are STILL living in that reality. The economic gains made easily in their lifetime mean they are completely out of touch with the economy of today and reality for younger generations. I know because I talk to them and they are absolutely infuriating. They had it SO EASY and yet are SO selfish and vote so horribly.

Nearly everyone with a mortgage is seeing their payments go up by $150-300 a month as their escrow payments go up this year. Homeowners insurance have gone up significantly as price to replace the home has increased by 30% or more. Plus as property values went up, so did property taxes. Double whammy for all homeowners.
