The 1953 Oldsmobile lineup started with the Deluxe, then the Super 88, and the 98. Since the advent of the Rocket V8 engine, Oldsmobile had indeed been a " ruling power of the road ," at least for drivers who savored the sensation of wild " horses ". This year's Super 88 / Ninety Eight engine reached 165 horsepower, but DeLuxe 88's made do with 140 hp. Bendis power brakes and Frigidaire air conditioning could now be ordered. Two tone upholstery was common in 1953 models, including the Super 88. Oldsmobile called its new front end the " power look." Super 88's blended the more potent V8 with a smaller body, resulting in greater performance. Oldsmobile celebrated the production for the company's four millionth car in May of '53. This partially restored four door sedan is 1 of 119,317 copies and had a base price of $ 2,462 and weighs 3,673 lbs. That famous Rocket engine for the Super 88 is a 303 cubic with 165 hp. This Oldsmobile has very good chrome, recent two tone paint with seat covers to protect the original material and an unrestored original trunk liner. A sight to see, this '53 model, for although they sold very well, finding one today is a rarity. Thanks for viewing.

Sweet Olds. We had a similar one when I was very young, an 88 in blue/blue.

...nice to see (nearly) original '53 Olds Super 88...

...it clearly has had a repaint, but the interior is the real deal...the blankets obviously cover worn seats, but the two-tone dash looks great, including radio and what may be a Buick 2-sp. DynaFlow transmission...

...the single factory producing Olds' 4-sp. HydraMatics was destroyed by fire during the '53 model run...

...the 303cid/5.0L Rocket V8 looks untouched...you can see a bit of this car's original paint color around the trunk gutter and on the firewall...Cove Green...(a more muted green than the jade metallic used to repaint)...

...one very rare option is the GM AutoTronic headlight dimmer..on top left dash....

...nice one, Warren!!

You did it again, another 1950s beauty!!! To me there's something refreshing seeing the original trunk & the plain steel wheels!! I'd love to take a peak under the blanket seat covers to see what's hiding underneath!!! Thanks for sharing another fun video!!! 👍👍🙂
