I had a Gunpla of the Leopard Gundam for a while.

To classify all the Gundams we must place the first serie at the top, then Gundam 00, then it's After War Gundam X. Zeta, ZZ, Wing, Turn A, SEED, SEED Destiny,... are not as good as this beautiful anime.

You know, I knew that Gundam in the 80s and the 90s HEAVILY borrowed from Macross which was the gold standard at the time but damn I didn't expect them to whole sale rip off everything from the Zentradi attack forward for one of their shows. But the reason Gundam struggled during this time was that it was seen as boring, stale, and that the name Gundam slapped on nearly every mech made them generic. Likewise New Type was never truly explained nor explored and was very VERY inconsistent even within the same universe. Using the UC timeline for example New Type in MSG was different than what it meant in Zeta, but which was different from what it meant in ZZ, which has a different meaning from Chars Counterattack and means something totally different in Unicorn. Don't forget that 0083 has an entirely different definition from the rest as well. In one it just means psychic complete with telekinesis, in another it means high analytical brain power, in another it's something to do with the body and nerves , in another it means it means prep cog and telepathy, in another a sixth sense, in ZZ it means nothing, etc. In other words it became synonymous with generic sentai plot power. The refusal to actually define what it meant only cemented that perception.

Really wish there was more post apocalyptic mech shows in general.

Honestly they should have made garrod a newtype even in the end he really isn't meant for the suit and the suit requires one to make full use of it so yeah makes 0 sense would by like kou uraki trying to pilot a Nu gundam couldn't use it to its full potential

I actually just finished a rewatch of X.

It still holds up as one of my favorite Gundam shows. I'd easily put it in my top three, and I always suggest people watch it if they can.

It feels like a "what-if" UC show with Newtypes and the colony drops and all that. I love the vibe, the MS designs are, for the most part, top notch (Leopard is better than Heavyarms, and Virsago is a sexier Epyon), it has some great characters and story's with them and Garrod and Tifa's love story is both realistic and the best romance in the whole damned franchise.

I do wish we could have seen the 11 episodes that got cut. I want tonsee how much those extra 5ish hours of content would change things and what would have happened.

Still a 10/10 show for me. Never considered the similarities between it and Eureka 7, but that may explain why I adore E7 as well.

I found After War Gundam X thanks to a friend showing me a clip on the Internet after I graduated highschool 23yrs ago and it instantly became my favorite. Especially after I managed to get my hands on the whole series months later

Is it just me, or does Gundam X's setting sound perfect for a sandbox Gundam game?

I’m torn on this series since it feels like it had no clear direction and only really became a Gundam series when the NUNE really came in full force and swinging for the fences whereas originally it was the freeden fighting a new foe or opposing force of the week while the frost brothers just did evil stuff and retreated in the end. All in all it’s a very middle of the road series in my eyes but not bad at all.

Just finished watching the series in full. I actually ended up liking it A LOT. The character motivations and development in X were far better than Wing, which is my favorite in terms of childhood nostalgia and mobile suit design. I love that Garrod is a little badass, the little side episodes involving Toniya and Ennil, the batshit craziness of Ennil in some parts, like wanting to kill Garrod because this 15 year old rejected sleeping with her lmfao, and also Ennil's random boobs. (Ennil is awesome.) Captain Jamil is awesome as well.

The anime also reminds me of Armored Core 4 Answer ending in a way
