49ers BREAKING: Why SF signed Thomas Morstead to replace Mitch Wishnowsky

I am of the hope they will have open competitions on every special teams slot the o line the d line and the olbs and safeties WRs also . I believe competition makes everyone better and the better the competition the more players benefit.

I like that Boyer and Saleh are both putting their stamp on the roster and working on improving the parts of the team that really cost us last year. It's desperately needed.

Morstead is better than Wish

Coached a Lot of soccer over the years. Temptation always exists to want to drive the ball on penalty kicks. Far more efficient to focus on which net corner you’re going for than power.

You know it sure would help if our kickers didn't have to make saving tackles on returns OFTEN like last year! Any team that has that happen should not be in the NFL! Maybe once in a while but not all the time like we did in 2024!

Punt Net Yards: Punters often have to place kicks in shorter areas for field position purposes, instead of just letting it fly. So, average punt length is very misleading.

Morstead was at one point the best player the Jets had on offense lmao, he’s even got punting highlights

Greg Joseph was 26th in accuracy in 2024, and he's been on six teams in a many years. There's a reason that no team wanted him!

I just don't see Joseph beating out the kid - his lifetime 82.3% rate - Moody was 87.5% before the ankle injury - Moody's job to lose - I know that will be dissapointing for fans

Mitch was a good punter when healthy and his Aussie Rules background made for some interesting moments -- I believe he got a personal foul for unnecessary roughness on a tackle once --- and he could drop the ball in spots nicely, but this is the NFL (Not for Long) and it was time to move on.

Great idea getting the average age of your punter and long snapper to be 40.

Moody has cost the 49ers 5 games at least in the past couple of years. He's awful. Robby Gould was ten times better. Time to find a kicker who won't lose it when the game is on the line and it's his responsibility.
