Fun thing to explore: DIY Detail / Yvan Lacriox stated (im paraphrasing) that Rotary Polishers Finish out paintwork with higher gloss and less haze than a Dual action polisher. Theres lots of variables involved which can effect potential outcomes or results when polishing with either tool. And I also doubt Yvan has ever said that its guerentee'd to always work a certain way everytime as well. So I suspect its more a case of there "could" be scenarios where the rotary provides a better finish than a DA. However in this video we try and provide a simple lamens, "Mid range agression" test using foam pads and medium compound. We also shoot the video live. And we simply see what happens. Prior to the test, my opinion is really if you are finishing out paint, you could safely opt for any polisher type and if you picked an appropriate polish and pad (soft foam would be best for finishing) and used that tool with a reasonably sensible technique then all these tools will deliver you a pretty much identical quality of finish (pound for pound with as many variables being equal). as we discuss maybe you can alter the variables of this test to highlight the differences more, and then potentially there could be a difference.
