I don't know what I expected, but one thing I absolutely did not expect was to hear him-- or anyone-- say that Olive Garden did not use enough salt.

I totally get it, I am born and raised in Hawaii and on my first trip to Las Vegas a friend thought it was a good idea to take me to a Hawaiian food restaurant. Not a good experience. But good job on being a good sport.

I think your experience depends on your expectations. If you’re Italian and grew up on authentic Italian food and expect it to taste the same, you’ll be disappointed. I don’t think their food is bad, just different. I’ve been to some “authentic Italian” restaurants, and found some food is not to my liking. It’s just what you’re used to.

I grew up in California and the first I had gnocchi (it was fresh made) was at a friends house (I was about 22) and she was Italian and her parents were from Italy and spoke mostly Italian. It was unbelievably good. The next time I had gnocchi that good again was when I was in Rome in 2015… when I was 54.
