#LetsCookwithSuma Sambhar is a compliments to any Indian recipe. It comes from a place called Udupi where sambar is very traditional & very famous as well. It can be accompanied in breakfast, lunch or dinner. This Sambhar recipe is Udupi hotel style. The fragrance of the sambhar would spread all over the house. Recipe:
Step 1:
-Wash 1cup- to or dal+1/4cup-mung dal.
-Add washed dal + 2 chopped onions+tomatoes + water in the cooker.
-Cook dal up to 5 whistles.
-once dal is done roughly mash it.
Step 2:
To the kadai:
-Add 1/2- Mustard+Cumin seeds + 5-6- crushed garlic cloves & fry.
- To this add 1/4tsp- Asafetida + Curry leaves + 4-5- chopped Green chilly & mix.
-Now, add Dal + water & mix.
- Next, add 3tsp- Sambar powder + 1/2tsp- Turmeric powder + 11/2tsp- Coriander + Cumin powder(2:1 ratio) + salt & mix it well.
-Finally, add 250gm- chopped sweet pumpkin + 3tsp- Tamarind extract + 4tsp- jaggery mix & cook it for 15mins.
-Lastly, add coriander leaves.
AND TRADITIONAL UDUPI HOTEL STYLE STYLE SAMBAR is ready.
