Honestly, I love both Matthew and Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy….they were both excellent.

I actually agree with him. He's a brilliant actor but can't compete with Colin Firth.

Because of Macfayden, the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice was the BEST!!!

You were perfect for this role Mathew Macfadyen, I have never rewatched a movie so much in my life and to this day I'm still watching it particularly because of your brilliant acting and persona. This from a Jane Austen fan since I was a girl {now 75} CF was lovely in 1995 but you own Mr. Darcy. Hope you see this.

I thought the entire cast was perfect for their roles..the chemistry between Darsy and Elizabeth was off the CHARTS..and that is what i believe made the movie so successful...the only actor that i would have replaced was the part of charles Bingley ( Simon woods). It felt like the interaction between Jane and him felt awkward.

One always have to keep in mind that a movie doesn't actually have to follow a book original slavishly. One also need to bear in mind that this is a movie with a running time of two hours and the BBC series is six episodes long and has a total running time of just over five hours... Of course, then there is richer content in the series, but still missing very much from Jane Austin's original.
I don't think you really can... and certainly don't need to compare or choose... neither one adaptation nor the other... or one Mr. Darcy or the other. The gentlemen's interpretations are skillfully done, and just that... artistic interpretations...
Then, as an introverted person, maybe I feel a little extra for Macfadyen's Darcy. However, that doesn't mean I don't also appreciate Firth's performance. I love them both❤️❤️

I love that when the movie came out, everybody (older than me) was like CoLiN fIrTh iS tHe ONLY DaRcY. Dont get me wrong - Firth is an excellent actor and a perfect Darcy, but in 2005 i was a teenager and this movie was the first adaptation I've seen - for me Macfayden is Darcy and now almost 20 YEARS LATER im not the only one thinking it😤

Love him, but Mr. Colin Firth will always be Mr. Darcy!

He was so perfect and his nervousness probably helped him to be a great Darcy. Love him.

Such a humble man! I feel bad because he was the PERFECT Mr. Darcy, and I don’t want to watch another version of Pride & Prejudice because of him and Keira.
