Why do people keep saying this? NASA is not going to "eliminate starliner" unless it can't be made to work. There is a great deal of money invested in it and it supports very sensible policy of having alternatives. Obviously starline is seriously not performing that doesn't mean it's not fixable.

The Polaris mission proves that a government controlled agency is not necessary to send people to Mars. Let's see what happens to NASA's funding, especially with the soaring national debt. The recent hearing concerning the FAA has also put that agency on notice. Also, the mission proves that a crew member doesn't have to be a professional astronaut, which is what NASA wants to perpetuate. Hooray for SpaceX !

SpaceX good; Boeing bad, but politically connected.
Another Space site says the FAA is being sued by SpaceX, for regulatory overreach. Courts don’t move quickly, but something’s gotta be done. Flight five should be behind us, and onto V2 version ASAP

I'm all for having more than one way to get to space, but I guess Boeing is going to Boeing.

They should look at the requirements as something to exceed, not something to barely meet if that.

What people are not understanding is that I believe that Elon made a dire mistake. First of all, Elon and Trump, their belief system is like oil and water. They are far away from each other, and they don't mix. Elon started backing Trump when he realized that Trump could possibly beat Biden, which was foolish because Biden and Elon have so much in common. For example, climate change, ev cars, solar energy, protecting the environment. And both are big humanitarians. This is why Elon backed joe Biden in the first election and even declined Trumps offer to be on his board. Trump has never been for anything Elon believes in. He constantly talks about how bad electric cars are, solar panels, global warming is a hoax, and they don't care about the environment. Trump is very big on oil manufacturing and the use of it, while Elon is not. So, like I said, those two have nothing in common, and even Elon is big on people having a choice of what they want to do, which is one of the reasons he does not back unions. Which is the only difference between him and Joe Biden. Now that Biden is out and Harris is in, you would think Elon would back Harris because Harris is all for everything Elon believes in, and don't get it twisted. Harris will win this election. Trump won the election the first time because he was the new deal, a businessman, not a congressman, but Trump has been exposed as a crook, a liar, and a manipulator. So he won't win this election because now Harris is the new deal. So, like said, Elon has made a mistake because he is backing the wrong horse, and he is losing all respect and credibility for his actions. Trump constantly makes mistakes in his speeches, reverting back to his non beliefs of what Elon believes in. So my point is that Elon and all his companies will pay for his bad judgment call. This is coming from a big Elon supporter, I have I own a model Y, model 3, I have a cyber truck on the way, and I use starlink.
my 2 cents

Something that has occurred to me in the comparison of the two systems - How many components/systems does Starliner have compared to Crew Dragon? My take is that, amongst many other issues, Starliner is too complicated. To an armchair designer like me, it looks like Spacex has a more straight-forward approach, KISS - 'Keep It Simple, Stupid'! It looks like Starliner is far too complicated for it's own good, that and it doesn't look like Boeing has the knowledge base in it's ship designers that Spacex has. One thing that came up in the last flight with Starliner is that it uses helium to pressurise the control jets, a notoriously hard-to-handle gas that just loves to find it's way out of any container, cryogenic to boot. Anyone out there have any broad intel on this?

Yet MORE Alpha Click propaganda!!!

NASA errantly sent Starliner home, without its astronauts! Boeing testified and PROVED Starliner’s complete efficacy and safety while docked. Starliner made a FLAWLESS return flight home to New Mexico! NASA has publicly stated its regrets for not sending Butch and Suni home! Now, the NY Post has sent a FOIA request to NASA to investigate the decision by NASA and those making the errant decision. Political, DEI hires abound at the Space Agency, chaired by the current Vice President of the US.

"Giving up Starliner is kind of impossible for NASA" Oh really? It seems like Boeing has had a sweetheart relationship with the NASA. Observers like myself and the general public continue to question why Boeing seems to be too important to walk away from, in regard to the Starliner? The Starliner seems to be one of the big failures where Boeing has spent nearly twice as much money on a failed space capsule in relation to SpaceX which has gotten repeatable results with Crew Dragon for much less money. Yes, NASA wants more than one contractor to get humans to orbit. Boeing seems to have proven so far they are not up to the task, at least by cost and time. Logic dictates that NASA should cut Boeing out of that role and look elsewhere, say Sierra Space with their space plane (see below). Sierra Space is ready now to launch it's cargo version but for some reason it keeps getting delayed. They have a crewed version to follow up with the cargo version. Since Starliner has been a failure up to the present, and we have a very viable alternative ready to test, it seems obvious which way NASA needs to turn.

From the wiki: Dream Chaser is an American reusable lifting-body spaceplane developed by Sierra Space. Originally intended as a crewed vehicle, the Dream Chaser Space System is set to be produced after the Dream Chaser Cargo System cargo variant is operational

Boeing has no one but themselves to blame for their current situation. But to be fair, the downfall of Boeing, who used to be the Gold Standard in the aerospace industry, all started when Lockheed acquired Boeing back in 2006. They pretty much got rid of Boeing's top management and installed their own hacks who were/are more worried about maximizing a profit and meeting diversity hiring goals than producing a quality aircraft or spacecraft. Now Boeing is the laughing stalk of the aerospace industry with their Starliner and the infamous 737Max. Even the newest version of the 777 is running into problems. Boeing needs to get out of the DEI business, hire good competent management, to include the executive level, as well as hire the best engineers and technicians in the market and get back into the business of building the best aircraft in the world.

The fate of Starliner will be that Boeing restructures its corporation to split of its manned space programs. at some point in there declaring bankruptcy. Either the feds will fund the new corporation or a foreign company will buy it, either BAE or a western Pacific ally.
They'll put some brainpower into making lemonade out of the Starliner, and that will be SpaceX's competition.
