Der Geher in Hamburg: Mühlenkamp

I am Der Geher and I'm walking along Mühlenkamp in Winterhude. This time I'm going from Kampnagel to Gertigstraße. A few residential buildings and then along Mühlenkamp from Goldbekplatz to Langer Zug. Finally, a view from the Langenzug bridge towards the Alster.

The Mühlenkamp farmstead was bought and run by Julius Gertig in the 1860s. At that time, the area was still very rural, which only changed when the gate barrier was lifted at the end of the 1860s. From August 1, 1886, the racecourse at Mühlenkamp, 870m in length, was used as a trotting track with space for sports clubs inside. However, the last race took place in 1901 and the last soccer match in the inside area in 1905, after which apartments were built on the site.
