nah S&K had the easiest final boss of the classics unless you're counting the finnicky final super sonic stage which is more awkward than difficult, sonic 3 big arms is probably the most legitimately difficult, since sonic 2 as you mentioned had a somewhat unclear successful hit-condition, I'd argue that sonic 1 was even harder than S&K with its instant death crushing and precise energy orb jump-throughs.

Sonic and knuckles had the most well presented of all the bosses though.

I love Sonic Heroes. It's one of my favorite games ever. But dang was Eggman secretly a scrub the whole time.

As redundant at Robotnik is at times, there are those moments where he does show off a more menacing moments in the mad scientist's career, like how you pointed out here.

- Blowing up half a moon just to make the humans of Earth to bow down to him (Sonic Adventure 2)
- Creating at least two backup plans in his evil scheme just to ensure Sonic's defeat (Sonic Forces)
- Draining all of the Chaos emeralds of all of their power (Sonic Unleashed)

If it weren't for his moments of stupidity, he'd probably be the scariest mad scientist in video game history.

Eggman isn't stupid; he is just so egotistical that he cannot for a moment fathom his plans to control beings more powerful than anything known would fail.

Love the ranking, but you actually did forget about Sonic Colors for the 3DS, which does have a mildly different plot from the other versions. For instance, I don't know if this is a thing in the main game, but on the 3DS version, Eggman was making a mass mind control device and even used it on Tails successfully, though the item was still experimental and failed shortly after. I believe some other cutscenes involve him messing with Cream and Cheese, but it's been a while so I can't say for certain. Also can't forget the fact that he was turning Wisps evil and making them act as black holes...yeah those levels are nutty.

In Sonic 1, Eggman's robots weren't controlled by little animals. The robots just housed (and possibly were powered by?) little animals.

Got as far as sonic 2 final boss and all i can say is "just no", you attack him from the underside going low and hit him ......learn how to play before opening yer mouth
