This is what I have done but it just seems like my ankle keeps getting swollen even in the boot
ОтветитьThank you so much! I didn't know how to take the boot away from me :)
ОтветитьThe hours out of the boot are weight bearing...?
ОтветитьAfter ankle surgery I was non-weight bearing for ten weeks (due to some unforseen circumstances) When I went to him, he took me out of the boot, and said in essence "pick up your bed and walk." The pain when I try walking is severe, but when I went back four weeks later I got a lecture on no longer using my crutches. Is there a "cut off" period for using crutches? I am 63 and have osteoperosis as well, and I cannot walk well enough to go shopping.
ОтветитьAt 5 weeks I just took it off. The pain the boot caused me wasn't worth it, gonna do it my own way
ОтветитьIt still hurts to put weight down on the back of my foot is this normal ?
ОтветитьThis is nuts. Broke my ankle Jan 22... I was completely NWB for 8 weeks, and then at my Pre-surgery appointment, the day before surgery, after my xrays, My OS explained that "the fracture is healing (NOT HEALED) as it should on its own and surgery will be out on hold until I do one more xray standing up. So now he beautiful gins to examine my foot. Then while his palm was on the bottom of my foot, asked me to flex my foot upwards, basically move my toes towards my body. I couldn't do it. RIGHT AFTER, he said take the boot off, get rid of the crutches and start walking. 😮 I looked at him like he was crazy. I asked "right now? Because I'm not confident in doing that!" he said ok when you get home, since I see you don't hav an extra shoe to wear.... WHAAAAATTTTT! Why was I given a walking boot if I was never going to walk in it? I thought at some point the boot would be ease me into weight bearing to walk in👀 Can someone answer that? Was it just to charge my insurance? My calf muscle is completely gone! So here at 4wks since then (week 12 since fracture), I've been walkin in the boot. I'm down to one crutch in my home. Without the boot, my mind doesn't allow my left foot to move. Also the weight of the boot is necessary since muscle atrophy in my left calf. I get pins and needles when trying to walk on the bare floor. I can only take small steps and then bang on my good right leg which is now bad due to supporting all my weight for the past 3 months. Does the orthopedic surgeon have to sign off on me getting physiotherapy?
