Before supertrend we had parabolic SAR.

I'm combining SAR with Hilo Candle. It's making my life so much better!!!!

I like it in combination with bollinger bands cause they indicate change of trend and sar indicates in wich direction it could go.

Have you considered non-time aggregation periods to elinimate noise from trend start/reversal inflection points?

For best results, use the PSAR with TDI. It’s ice cold when the TDI entry rules are followed. Another thing to add about PSAR is that when they are tight, price is ranging but when they expand, price is trending.

Use for key levels

I bought a book by Al Brooks who studied indicators for 12 years and eventually threw them to the side except for his own invented indicator. He stated those 12 years were wasted. He next studied price action and primarily uses that along with trend lines. My point is, most indicators really don't change your overall success. They only assist at best and at worst, like Sarms give off false reversal signals.

A few days ago, I just happened to run across a forex trader who was using Same and I could not pass judgment on it. However, it appears your old time MAs are more reliable in establishing a trends reality such as the 50. This Sarms is similar to taking trades on cross over man such as 13 9. 4 man...too many false signals as in the case of Arms.

It helps me avoid ranging markets and goes with the trends.

Sorry, but if you talk about how to use indicators but do not mention how the behave when you modify the input settings, you are not giving complete information. For example, by changing the inputs of the PSAR to .025/.025 it will ignore many of those brief reversals. Also, those settings should be set based on the behavior of the particular asset. You wouldn't use the same setting for a currency that doesn't have wild osculations vs something crazy like Bitcoin/USD. Hence, with some assets, I change the settings to .01/.006-8. Combining the PSAR with the Least Square Moving Average w/ a Trigger Line and and not making a trade entry unless the 1st candlestick upon or after a PSAR reversal has completely cleared the LSMA & Trigger on the correct side (up or down) for a long or short trade, you would ignore many false trend reversals. Add on the RSI indicator, and only go long when the trigger candlestick is bullish and RSI is above 50, & vice versa, and you have some pretty good concurrences. Hope that helps. The 100 or 200 period moving average can be used as a general trend indicator, and the trader can avoid going against that trend. Finally, the chart should be marked up with support & resistance levels, and one might be cautious about, say, entering a long trade if the trend is up towards a level of resistance, because one does not know if the level will hold or if there will be a breaktru. But, if, for example, the price has already been tested and rebounded from the resistance level a couple of times, and the RSI is below 50, the 100-200 moving avg is trending down, the PSAR reverses to bearish, and the PSAR dots reverse to bearish, you can be pretty sure the price will drop. The point is...and here you are right...no single indicator is a miracle by itself.

interesting video, but it's clear you haven't read his book. it was never created as an indicator, but a "system" to always be in the market (hence the term stop and reverse). I agree with you that it should be used alongside a backtested breakout system that demonstrates an edge in the market(s) one trades, but you use the word 'indicator' dozens of times and Parabolic SAR was never created as one. also, to suggest that computers work better than Welles Wilder's indicator library is incorrect. He also created the RSI, DMI, ADX and several other technical analysis indicators and systems that are programmed into almost every charting system today. I understand your attempt to seem clever, but to suggest that you have some insight that is superior to Wilder's painstaking work is absurd and plain silly. Anyone who's read Wilder's work will marvel at, and respect, the work of someone who use pen and graph paper to plot and discover concepts that are at the root of nearly all technical and volatility models in use today. That being said, I agree that most traders (myself included) can't handle the swings that are inherent with the system. In my worthless opinion it was his least amazing feat.

I notice that you explained the SAR here, also talking about indicators not making you money.

Remember this, indicators are NOT there to make you money, you are. It simply indicates at market level, previous support/resistance or pivots etc.

One thing i also noticed is that you dont know how to work with this indicator as 95% of traders have the same mentality, thats why they lose money.

If you add any indicator, always keep in mind, no broker will give you the correct settings, but rather STD settings.

These settings are only available in the professional world. Yes.....its hard to believe. I am a professional trader/mentor myself. And for years I've seen people having the wrong idea about trading forex, just like you have the wrong idea here.

Hello. Thanks for the video. Can you tell me, does the parabolic sar repaint after the candle closes, or only whilst a candle is open/active. I got trapped in the past using pivot points indicator because it repaints all the way up to 5 candles back! I hope PSar doesn't do that too! Can you tell me?

If you use a 200 Ema wouldn't that stop all the whipsaw and you'd only takes trades in the direction of the 200 ema.

Trend...That’s an academic debate. For trading it is simple. Enough dots in a row to meet your level of satisfaction, ie the difference in buy and sell and vice versa. And if I can achieve that with 5 dots or 10 dots in a row I don’t care. I use it combined with volume, macd and ma200.

You need to select good time frame and set proper values then and only then this indicator will work perfectly

Just use your daily time frame as the long or short SAR trend then use 1 hour for temporary SAR trends. When the SAR tightens up it's telling you to hedge as no trend is in place.
