🌊3 day solo trip to Essaouira: Morocco’s port city🌊

🎒It was my first time solo traveling by myself and my friend Cindy who I was visiting in Marrakech suggested I go to Essaouira (which was called Mogador until the 1960s). My friends in Marrakech were so excited for me to go and kept saying how much I would love it.

💨And they were so right. It was a nice oasis from the chaos and 120F heat of Marrakech. A smaller more manageable city, breezy with the Atlantic winds (which I’m partial to coming from Coruña 😏) and chiller vibes than Marrakech.

Main must-do’s that I did:

📍Stroll and shop in the medina (way less pushy venders than in the big city)

📍Climb to the top of the city walls to watch the sun set on top of the water

📍Choose fresh fish from the port and have them grill it for you right there

📍Stay at a riad hotel. I stayed at Villa Maroc in the medina and had a great experience.

📍Listen for live gnawa (Moroccan spiritual/ religious music that’s played with unique instruments)

📍Walk along the beaches and watch the kitesurfers (a ton because Essaouira is so windy).
