Doesn't sound right without Henry Paul's out of tune and time rhythm playing.
ОтветитьI raise my whiskey and give them a toast, Florida Guitar Army(s) Rocks the Most.
ОтветитьThis brings back memories. Was fortunate to have seen them many times. Great chord voicings, harmonized vocals and guitar parts made them stand out from the rest for me. RIP Hughie and Billy.
ОтветитьI got to see these guy 4 different times over 20 some years. Every time was great. Great guitar playing.
ОтветитьCheck out that monstrous drum kit that Monte is playing!
ОтветитьCan’t believe I had the privilege to see them back then thank god !
Ответитьreal southern rock
ОтветитьI always thought that was HT’s solo. My bad. Cudos to billy!!!
Bad ass!
This is what the world needs more of
ОтветитьI think you're right man that is the best guitar playing in history and I got to see them guys live back in the late 70s thank you John for that experience
ОтветитьSuch an underrated masterpiece
ОтветитьWho sang the high harmonies?
ОтветитьThis tour was. The first. Time I saw the outlaws..Blown Away ..!!!…I have seen the Outlawsmaybe 12timeslI catch their concerts every chance I get.a true fan
ОтветитьWas this the original band line up? What about Henry Paul, was he an original member? Seems this band had a few line up changes, I am trying to find out which one they had when most of their big songs were recorded.
ОтветитьI once read an interview in the 70's saying it was like interviewing a bunch of NFL linebackers as they were tall, big guys. Looking at how small their guitars look when Hughie and Billie are playing they must have both been well over 6' tall.
ОтветитьA great flashback memory here for me. I saw the Outlaws on this tour when they played the Cape Cod Colosseum in August of 1977. Stood right up front and watched Hughie and Billy just ripping it up song after song. This was the line up with guitarist Freddie Salem and bassist Harvey Arnold, as well as Dave Dix and Monte Yoho on Drums. All three guitarists were using flangers then! They blew me away that night and many times since over the years. The guitar world is a much lesser place for the loss of Billy Jones and Hughie Thomasson. RIP guys. We haven't seen the likes of you since.
ОтветитьThe Florida guitar army!
ОтветитьSPEEDING TICKET MUSIC
ОтветитьThese guys were amazing in this era, just before they hit the bigtime and were really in their prime. I saw them several times that year (1977) as a student at University of South Florida, since they played a lot of free street dances at Crescent Hill. Was blown away by their incredible talent the first time I saw them and still am. There were few better guitar players than Hughie.
ОтветитьJamn! That was great!!
ОтветитьLoved these guys back in high school late 70’s. Billy & Hughie ❤️
ОтветитьLike the Ed King years with Skynyrd, the contrast of the Strat and the Les Paul played by masterful players really made a statement, Huey and Billy were quite a team. They're jamming with their southern brother's somewhere right now, The Allman brothers, Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, gone but not forgotten, thanks for the music guys 👍
ОтветитьWow, what a lineup: Hughie Thomasson (guitar/vocals), Billy Jones (guitar/back vocals), Freddie Salem (guitar/back vocals), Harvey Dalton Arnold (bass/back vocals), Monte Yoho (drums/percussion), and David Dix (drums/percussion). When I hear that kind of music, it makes me wish that Hughie Thomasson and Billy Jones were still alive and making music. They, along with Freddie Salem and Harvey Dalton Arnold, put some serious fire on the strings while Monte Yoho and David Dix had a percussive rhythm that was tighter than tight. Henry Paul and Monte Yoho have tried to keep the Outlaws going and God bless them for that, but it just isn’t the same. I’m glad this video was found and posted.
ОтветитьThank you Ronnie Van Zant .
ОтветитьMan am I glad I got to see them a couple of times about this same timeframe! Outstanding.
ОтветитьI feel so also
ОтветитьI think it sad that Freddy Salem didn't get the kudos and acclaim that Hughie and Billy did. It was the Florida (Four) Guitar Army after all.
ОтветитьWhy aren't they in the rock n roll hall of fame ??....bullshit!!!
ОтветитьThe Outlaws were responsible for blowing up more than a few home Hi Fi's!!
ОтветитьGood morning to all
ОтветитьPlease someone clean up the sound of this awesome performance..it deserves it
ОтветитьI was born in the 80's so I missed out on all the good stuff when it was in its prime. But I gotta ask, anybody shake Hughie's hand back in the day? Because his hands looked like they could turn anything into powder.
ОтветитьA dynamic guitar duo right there
ОтветитьBilly Jones is one of the greatest players ever
ОтветитьI think there is smoke coming from my phone as I watch this
ОтветитьIs this from a companion film to 'Bringing It Back Alive?'
ОтветитьThanks so much for sharing this with us. 🌌🌅🌠🕊👌🏻
ОтветитьThe Outlaws at their Peak performance!!!!!
ОтветитьFirst time seeing them was August of 1976, opening for ZZ TOP.
ОтветитьF_ _ _ ing Awesome 😎🤠🇺🇸
ОтветитьThat was amazing. Hughie with his Strat & Billy with his LP complemented each other so well. Even their stage demeanor was completely different, Hughie standing there with that swagger, just owning it and Billy totally immersed in what he was doing, head down in total concentration. These guys were total masters, GG&HT forever.
ОтветитьThe best sounding Strat ever !
ОтветитьTheir music makes me happy
ОтветитьThe most beautiful thing I've ever seen! Outlaws the ultimate!
Ответить1977. This could have very well been the Beacon Theater shows.
ОтветитьBest guitar duo ever !!!! Miss those guys ❤
ОтветитьDespite the poor soundquality this happens to be a great live performance of one of the three great southern rock bands of the seventies. Lady in waiting being the number one southern rock album anyhow
..
Sadly that Freddie Salem passed away recently. R.I.P
