Honestly I can't decide which one would make more sense for me, this or the new Sony 40mm 2.5 G... Or both!?
ОтветитьI want one for z mount
ОтветитьNice review with a practical emphasis. I’ve been a Sigma fan for 40 years.
ОтветитьI have (and LOVE) the 24-70 2.8 DG DN Art lens for my S1 and in comparison this is impressively small. I would definitely miss the extra 4mm on the wide end though.
ОтветитьI wish they would release more of the contemporary line for, MFT I have the 56mm 1.4 and the 30mm and they are some of the best glass I have owned.
Ответитьwhy is this lens out of stock everywhere
Ответитьdoes it work on my a6000 camera?
ОтветитьDo the colours looks nice and punchy, slightly warm or is that your pp?
ОтветитьTheir 24-70 f2.8 Art lens is $1100 for reference. So $300 difference for reference.
ОтветитьYeah I’ll stick with the trusty Tamron - it’s on my body 75% of the time.
ОтветитьI don’t get it, the 24-70 isn’t much more money
ОтветитьVery nice video!
Just picked up my first Sony camera switching from Canon and was looking around for some full frame glass. I have used the 18-35 1.8 for EVER when shooting video and was sad when I couldn’t use it. I love sigma so I went with the 24-70 2.8 art just because I have had good luck and no BS with the art line. BUT I was seriously looking at this 28-70 as a option and I still things it’s a fantastic value for money lens that many many people should keep there eyes on 👀
Why has this channel slowly moved to camera reviews? A few years ago when this first started it was all about ("The Art of Photography") composition, lighting, different techniques, etc. Why has this changed!? I subscribed because of learning, not for the reviews, and certainly not for squarespace. You used to say camera gear is not more important, instead learn how to shoot light how masters of photography do, now... its....
ОтветитьGreat lens. I have had it on my S5 for a few weeks now and a commercial shoot yesterday. Superb results, photo and video. It’s perfect for events and portraits 👌
ОтветитьGood price. But there are way too many "ifs" and "buts". Like for all the things you said are the pros for this lens, there is something faulty as well. So game changer it is not. If anything, the canon rf 28-70 f2 might be but that lens is way too expensive.
ОтветитьI really like the new thumbnail design you’ve got going on.
Ответитьrather get the tamron 28-75 2.8 though
ОтветитьHello. Great video, as always. Can I use this lens with my sony A6600? Thanks.
ОтветитьGreat review! I’m curious how you think this lens compares to the Tamron 28-75 2.8. Similar price and specs but 5mm more on the long end.
Ответить"Game changer" seems to have become the tech word of the year already. According to the amount of game changes I'm wondering if there are any standards left at all that are even possible to settle until they get changed by next game changer...... 🙈🙈
ОтветитьInteresting first look. I just feel strange that there is no mention of the strongest competitor the Tamron 28-75 F2.8 🤔
ОтветитьGame changer, no.
I like the Rembrandt lighting.
I appreciate the way you go into detail on its image quality attributes including considerations of micro contrast and bokeh, close range versus far off range.
ОтветитьI would love if sigma could do the 16-35 alternative soon
ОтветитьThanks for the heads up on the issue Sigma reported with the 28-70. I actually had just received one in the mail that was covered by the serial numbers referenced by Sigma. I am returning the lens for that reason, but in the brief time we spent together I would say it was more of a love affair than a negative relationship ;) For people who are interested, it is so light and small, it felt like the 35-70 zoom lenses of the old days. I was not put off by the plastic compound, and it felt pretty solid. Much easier to carry than the 24-70 options. I did feel a little more limited without the extra wide reach of a 24, but then again I also felt limited at the 70mm range, so you might say I’m just lazy! This lens and the 45mm by sigma tell me they are on to something good - that is, lenses that are optically good, don’t break the bank, and chart new territory in the never ending attempt to balance performance and cost with size and weight. This may be the best lens that I’ve ever instantly returned!
ОтветитьThe *4mm, not 2, on the wide end is a pretty big deal but still looks like a really good lens.
Ответитьmaan , this lens is sold out everywhere, even sigma doesnt have it lol
edit
Noww i see why its not available due to the sigma fixing the issue lol
cudos to sigma
Definitely looking to grab one of these once the issues are resolved and they start shipping.
ОтветитьInteresting; good price. (I'm just not in the market for any $2000 lenses.)
I do kind of wish more of these mid-range zooms were just a little longer -- 85 or so maybe.
28 minus 24 is 4 (not "2" as you mention twice) 😶
ОтветитьIt extends when zoomed, sorry but I'm out.
ОтветитьA lens that has existed in many forms for decades is now a "game changer" ? Ugh.
ОтветитьNot for me I m not a sony nore a L mount shooter.
ОтветитьThank you for the excellent overview. Very fair and comprehensive.
ОтветитьHow is this a "game changer" when Tamron did this with their excellent, light and affordable 2875F2.8 years before this Sigma?
ОтветитьSo it´s a good budget sigma lens. What´s the "game changer" ? :D
ОтветитьFor landscape, the tamron is sharper?
ОтветитьHow much forr itM Tkss!
ОтветитьI love to see another fellow left eye shooter 👁️ I've been here often I respect Your work!
ОтветитьNight sky/milkyway/astro-photography with this lens?
ОтветитьHave the “Art” edition of the lens. I recommend just another $200 to get the Art edition, although it is much heavier.
Ответитьordered one i got a few primes on the sony but NO zoom yet and i needed a good walk around lens i can go out and about and take scenery shots BUtT also if i meet someone interesting be able to take some decent portraits all with one lens and i think this will do just great! and open up more options!
ОтветитьAre you using this Sigma 28-70mm lens for this video? What focal length are you at in this video?
ОтветитьI have the Panasonic Pro 24-70mm f2.8 and enjoy the results on my S1 series bodies. However, for travel and lightweight carry use on my diminutive and yet powerful S5, I am looking for a M43 alternative. This is the use case for me as both systems offers small and LW solutions with compromises with the Sigma resulting f2.8 on a FF sensor.
ОтветитьWow. You're great. You explain
important things that all of those other reviews leave out.
I was looking at the sample images on DPReview. Honestly, for the price, the image quality is shocking. Very sharp and very pleasing bokeh (not top of the line bokeh, but really pleasant). I actually found the bokeh to be nicer than on Sigma's 24-70 2.8. The lens is sharper than the Sony 24-70 GM ver. 1. Yes, SONY's newer 24-70 is better, but it's also approx. 2.3x more expensive.
ОтветитьHow's the autofocus?
ОтветитьI guess a game changer for Sigma lens users only. That was why he did not say anything nor compare to Tamron. Because in Malaysia we do look at Sigma lenses for camera and they are very good. I rarely hear people use Tamron here. Although the price is affordable here. But Sigma has a good branding here. Well i just love this lens just don’t have the money yet 😅
