ОтветитьI need a better explanation on why I wouldn't want to use a socket for the hair. I'm planning on building a character creation menu to allow potential players of UE 5 creations to customize their character. When building selectable hair assets I was planning on making them attach to a socket in order for the hair to be displayed in game in a realistic manner. Why exactly is using a socket for hair a bad idea?

Ответитьgorka, this seems to only work for a manniquin or metahuman, because after doing everything just like you, I also tried it in several ways and when it came to creating the groombinding it gave me an error, with roots very far from the skeleton and as if the skeleton has no UVs therefore my skeleton does have UVs and I did the hair exactly the same as in your video, could you tell me how to solve this error?

If Unreal wants to import your Alembic (.abc) file as static/skeletal mesh, make sure to select proper extension (Alembic hair strands instead of all files).
Groom hair doesn't seem to be able to preview on mobile devices. Help me out

ОтветитьI managed to get this working by putting hair on the top of a icosphere and the exported Alembic file was 600kB. But when I tried adding hair to my own 40k triangle mesh the exported Alembic file was only 600 bytes. The small file imported in Unreal but nothing showed up. If I import it back into Blender nothing shows. Is there a bug in Blender where this export doesn't work for large meshes?
ОтветитьIt does not work for me. Instead of Groom import options, I have Alembic Cache options when I import the file in. I installed the plugins and enabled the skin cache. I am however using a custom character, not the mannaquin from UE5. However I feel like that should not be a problem. Would you have an idea for a solution?
edit: I think I found the problem, I did not use the hair particle system, as I made a model hair. I think that is why it did not import as groom. I guess you have the use the blender hair

ОтветитьI did not succeed on my side, the assignment of the vertex group did not work as in the tutorial with the same parameters but I still continued but the import in alembic did not work with Ue5 ( failed to import )

ОтветитьYou can create up to hair, but even if you export, only hair will not be exported. Importing in UE only imports the skeletal mesh.
ОтветитьSo it is working in Editor but when I package the game, the hair starts to behave strangely. It seems the physics no longer work, and the binding asset does not keep the hair attached to the head. Did someone has similar problem?
