Hi friends! A quick pinned comment to say I am absolutely moderating comments here. If people do not want to even give me the consideration of listening to what I have to say in this or any other videos, I do not owe them the space to call me a liar in my comments. If people are determined to deliberately twist what I have to say or what they can see in order to try “catching” me in some lie, they don’t deserve to stick around and get answers. People are in my comments twisting words in bad faith and I’m not a stomping ground for deliberate misunderstandings

So yes, comments “calling me out” or whatever will be deleted and I am not sorry about it. I have absolutely no reason to lie about our income, that would be a weird move. It has taken me a LOT of courage to start talking about this, and it’s pretty wild to have people come at me for simply opening up about something that used to feel so taboo. So cut it out.

It costs NOTHING to be kind.

Anyway, love the rest of you! Bye!

Soothing and educational videos! I'm not sure how I stumbled upon this but... I love this. I had NO idea that unused thread becomes brittle. I have containers full that my Mom had when she passed away. Thank you for this beautiful, peaceful video!

I by second hand and vintage but also make cloths as I figure out my style and find making cheaper than buy, even used.
I've gotten some nice fabric hitting the thrift store frequently. My best was 12 yards of vintage cotton gingham for only $3 total. I almost hit the jackpot with 2+ yards of 100% merino wool fabric (content was sewn into the salvage) at goodwill, but it was not prices and they won't sell things without a tag/sticker. I live in an area where no place sells this within a 2 hour drive or more, so its the only time I've been able to handle this kind of fabric. Really bummed I couldn't get it- it was taken to be "re-processed".

Your kittens are so cute! And you live in a truly beautiful area. The new skirt you made is wonderfully Fall and goes so well with a variety of tops. I'm in the process of learning to sew again after 30yrs, but I've forgotten most of what I learned in school. Starting out making handwarmers for family as holiday gifts. Hoping to move to some skirts. Cannot wait to try your tips for making one out of a tablecloth!

I find it ironic when people assume that low income people can't possibly "afford" expensive clothing.
Like rich people don't donate things ever. 🙄
I have had so many designer items that I got for free while homeless. People need to really pull their heads out of their butts or the sand and understand that there are so many different ways a person can acquire "expensive" things.

Another example:
I gifted my ex a pair of Air Pods. I found a left one on the ground one day and about a week later, I found a right one.
I found that I could afford to get the charging case if I saved up for a few months. And I lucked out that they were able to pair with each other!

I also wear a lot of thrifted items, some handmade by myself and some vintage.
But I actually love your videos for the gentle way you do things. I simply like listening to you and watching you move about the house. It is so homely and gentle. I'm so glad your husband manages to convey it in the videos you produce.

I'm not coming from a low income family but I only own 1 winter coat that I wear for 9 consecutive years, it was my mother's coat but since she has several coats and it's not her style actually, I grabbed it 9 years ago. It is a late 80s coat, big, oversize, hot pink wool. The irony is I was not caring well, I washed it several times in 60 celcius, nothing happened to it, it still looks ok. I was so ignorant back then, now I dont ever put it in any machine..

Thank you. With love from Kansas, we are in a very low income area. However, the local thrift stores are full of treasures. My mother always thrifted clothing when my brother and I were young.

I just recently learned older clothing are higher quality. Now, they are not. I've noticed this. Have you noticed the quality in your vintage clothes vs new ones?

You define your life not a bunch of people in a comment section. The important thingsabout YOUR life is that you are happy and content. You ar far ahead of the curve because you clearly can distinguish what you need from what you want. Again, its your life live it beautifully and with not an ounce of regret or explanation.

I have a small budget, I moved from Canada to be with my husband with only a suitcase of my clothes and it's been a struggle to find anything quality at the thrift stores in my size and since we are low budget and have had to pay alot of money for the wedding and visa process on one income it's been a challenge to dress myself. I refuse to buy from shein or similar websites because of their cheap clothing and horrible practices

Your cup is so pretty with the red mushrooms. I'm a mushroom collector in my decor, as you are with red and strawberries decor.
I'm so new to vintage clothing and love the style here on your channel. How to find the size that will fit and the style fit that will look as fantastic as you do in your all put-together ensembles.
I'm ready to put one together where it would be a skirt dress and slack to have a few different tops/blouses and sweaters that are interchangeable and / or a cloak. To do as I remember my mother and gram doing with a closet having little clothes amount of hangers filled, but so many different ensemble pulled from 4 or 5 pieces. And we would see them in a different ensemble every day of the week. Even the little capris mom found a lot of fun wearing to wear.
I do recall the first time seeing my mother not in a dress or a skirt.
Your vintage clothing in the many ensembles put together in the videos you share. I'm feeling more confident in just taking the plunge. You have done it again.
Thank you, ❤🍓Kristine.
😊💛

Beautiful Kristina, elegant and pretty! I love the video! During the civil law in Lebanon (war never ends there one could say), my father had to go for two professions, and my mother, in addition to her teaching career, was an excellent tailor who made us wonderful pieces, both out of talent and to maintain a level of decent and humble elegance so we can stay proud among our friends and not feel different. I know what it is like to think several times about buying an item and still dress elegantly with good-tailored material. Nowadays, my sister and I love, we just love, tailoring some of our mom's clothes, some being vintage, which we wear proudly, consciously and happily. Bravo Kristina.

I thrifted when I was in high school and college and had an awesome wardrobe. I had things like designer wool shorts that I would never buy at full price! Really it just requires a bit of extra time and effort. I got in the habit of wearing things until I wore them out. I so hated having clothes with the labels cut out that I’m really reluctant to cut my own labels out to this day. But it’s great training for discerning quality without knowing the brand. I have found that quality can really vary within the same brand sometimes.

Those maroon(cranberry?) trousers are so cute! I find it hard to find high waisted trousers as I need an apparently unusually long inseam, but I still love the style.

I had a couple $400-$500 dollar coats as a kid - neighbor's kid grew out of them but they fit me so I got to keep them. Inheriting, trading/bartering, or flat out someone trying to get rid of stuff free or very cheap (tag/estate sales for instance) makes a lot of the otherwise ungodly expensive stuff available, at least in the US, and it seems folks either don't know or like to ignore that fact 🤷

I’m in my 50s and I’ve been going to charity shops (the U.K. version of thrifting) since the 1980s. I’ve been collecting vintage since maybe the pandemic. And it was after investing in a $300 (which included some vintage trimmings in the price) c. 1958 suit that I started to really see how I could source affordable vintage combinations. Then I got into 1960s-‘70s wear which suits me pretty well and is much more affordable and easier to come by. It’s amazing what you can source to look even 1930s. I have since been able to hone in a little better - more and more - what “suits” me and what I look good in. And being a little more choosy, too! One day, I’d love the time and know-how to make and tailor my own pleated slacks, for example. It’s been so satisfying to grow in my knowledge of vintage clothing and curate it overtime.

I have my big goals, like an authentic double-breasted blue suit from the 1930s and an Inverness cape/coat. But one step at a time! And this video encourages me that taking time is okay.

The skirt is The Most.

I've never been shy about the fact that I thrift shop for a lot of my clothes. My sister in law gets weird when i talk about it though. I never let it bother me lol. At christmas last year she was showing off her new coach purse. I happen to have a red vintage coach purse and I was using it for the holidays. she said "oh i love your coach purse too!" I said "thank you. I got it thrift shopping for $25." lmao she got so quiet. I don't know if she was weirded out because I thrifted it and she liked it, or that she had paid so much more for her brand new one.

You do not have to explain yourself to anyone! Ive shopped thrifts ever since I was a teenager and wanted unique clothing. I honestly refuse to buy new. Every now and then, I will treat myself to something that I truly love. (Like a vintage cowboy print dress from Loco Lindo, that I have been eyeing for a year!).

I am really glad that you have people sponsoring you and gifting you clothing! I think that is an awesome perk for all of your hard work. Your videos look like they take a lot of work, and you also being a momma and full time home maker, makes me appreciate them even more!!
