That's a lot of water!
ОтветитьThat will take a while to drop to a sensible level!
ОтветитьI got to banbury yesterday and thankfully had the heads up so I didn’t have to get stuck up there I could turn around in a couple of days time and head back the way I came
ОтветитьCan’t you open the lock paddles to let the water?
ОтветитьThanks for the update.
ОтветитьReally hadn't appreciated that it's not just the depth of the water that can be a problem, but the substantial rate of flow.
Have just re-watched this wearing earphones and the noise of the water is exceptional. Something I'd overlooked watching this on a quieter tv.
I thought canals typically had a low flow rate...Llagothy' excepted of course ..but this racing water in Oxfordshire is scary...certainly not to be fooled with.
Rain stops boats! Now that would have been a good title! 🙃
ОтветитьWhy not open a bit?
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьI thought they had kind of reservoir storage areas it was released to, then they could pump it down stream to level it off
ОтветитьHow does flooding actually effect a lock, can you not open the gate or is that against some kind of canal law?
ОтветитьHeh, u want real flooding come to America
ОтветитьWhy not just open the paddles on the gate to drain the water down to the lower level??
ОтветитьThat’s bad flooding? Try 50 inches of rain in 24 hours.
ОтветитьOh dear
Ответитьwhy would you not open the locks?
Ответитьi don't see the problem ?? you can still lock up or down . You might be high in the water so what
ОтветитьShocking
ОтветитьWow
Ответить🙀🙀🙀
ОтветитьWat about dredging.the rivers.
ОтветитьOpen the stupid flood gate!
ОтветитьI forgot how wet it was that year lol x ❤️ dozy and Dim are narrowboat adventures ❤️
ОтветитьCan't someone open the lock!?
ОтветитьGet Post 10 out there on an exchange program
ОтветитьLocks on the leicester line are like this at the moment, so I stopped as soon as I got somewhere with a little protection, The locks are almost impossible to open with water so high, when I did eventually find somewhere sheltered to stop, I got an email from the CRT telling me I'm somewhere I shouldn't be xD No shit, but I'm not going onto a river when the levels are in flood am I!!!
ОтветитьThis is wild omg
ОтветитьIf you want to see real floods come and have a look at the Calder and Hebble
ОтветитьCan't see a spillway. Is there one?
ОтветитьScabby boating
ОтветитьMy gran was born on a barge in Chorley, Lancashire in the 1890,sWhen I was a child she told me about floods on the river system affecting the canals and how she had to spend all night polling of the barge from the canal bank when it was flooding,, Gran passed away 40 years ago a hard working lady❤️
ОтветитьA result of flooding most of us don’t know about. Thank you for sharing it.
ОтветитьCan't they open all the locks and let the water flush out of there! 🙏⛴️✌👌💨
ОтветитьWow. I would open all the locks if that works. I think it would. Do you have any idea?
ОтветитьA lot of people complain about the CRT. Are they complainers or something else? If they have the money and labor and don't keep busy I'd say it's acceptable or maybe I just don't know.
Ответитьi'd be tempted to open all the paddles slightly - - -
