ОтветитьI'm so glad they included the meme.
ОтветитьWise advice.
ОтветитьHahahahahahaha this advice is so bad holy fuck i actually cant believe it 😂
ОтветитьMight be my problem to doing Crossfit/lifting...
ОтветитьIsn't krav maga like the crossfit of self defence?
Ответитьolder people need more volume than a younger guy to generate adapations
ОтветитьOlder people can go lighter and slowly increase volume as they train. Cause we try to apply more and more productive stress with less fatigue possible to keep the old person going and make progress. Typically anywhere from 50% to 80% is ideal for older trainee
ОтветитьLouis Simmons disagrees with you on this topic
ОтветитьDoes anyone know where we can send questions?
ОтветитьKrav and heavy lifting at age 60? How about moderate weight and buy a gun?

ОтветитьI'm 96 and about to start 20 rep squat routine, what's your thoughts Rip ?? TIA
ОтветитьReally like the novice program helps me a lot 😊
ОтветитьThank you , I needed to hear this.
ОтветитьWhat is considered a old guy
ОтветитьTurned fifty, was kind of in the same boat. Had given up smoking for over a year and was just trying to do way too much. Went back to the simple 3x5s only twice per week and never felt better.
Ответитьgreat advice,sounds good to me
ОтветитьSee a hormone ologost who works with a dietician.
ОтветитьMost people don’t need ridiculous volume. I’m 52yo and learned to cut back my volume due to reduced recovery time. There’s a 23yo guy at my gym who does about 15-18 sets of deads each week. I see him Monday and then not again until Wednesday. He always remarks how tired and beat up he is from deads. I tell him to reduce his volume and his answer is I gotta make gainz brah.
Ответить"ONE heavy triple, every week or TWO" ? I thought just dropping to 3x3 once a week was bad enough. I may as well just quit the gym altogether.
ОтветитьI'm 400 years old, have been training for 410 years. My warm-ups take about 4 weeks, is that ok?
ОтветитьListen to your body
Ответить64 years old and find working up to a top set of 3-5 reps followed by a couple back down sets based on how top felt works better than straight sets. I also rotate variation of squat, bench and deadlift every week aka conjugate.
Ответитьhow many times does Mark have to say this? even at 40 you have to adjust and be realistic.
ОтветитьAt 61, I'm doing 2-3 sessions a week.
Total body, but split up the deadlifts and squats.
I'm chasing some pr's I set 6 years ago.
Thanks Mark. Great advice for a 60 year old like myself
ОтветитьAnd he's been preaching the formula for a long time does it make sense and it works people just need to start buying in to this philosophy
Ответить100% right. Thanks for the video
ОтветитьBear in mind volume has to do with the amount of weight you're lifting as well as reps. So, for someone who is doing lots of reps and accys, YNDTP. If you are doing the program, the volume you're doing with heavier stuff can be equivalent or even greater. 400 for 5 is the same volume as 200 for 10, or two sets. Add in warmups, and it's easy to see why doing heavier weights can add up quickly.
ОтветитьPrime advice
ОтветитьI am 45 and I NEED VOLUME even more than when I was in my 30s... The more I do, the more mass I got but strength start to diminish. I also EAT like a pig.
ОтветитьSo...I'm 68. Train twice weekly. 5 minute warm up on Schwinn Air Dyne, usually. Use a modified 5x5 protocol, where 3-4 sets are progressively heavier warm ups, in essence. Fifth set is heavy and 3-5 reps. Too much? I vary intensity if I feel sluggish or non-motivated. Most of my workouts are squat, standing press and Pendlay rows.
ОтветитьMy doctor says to lighten the weight and increase the reps to maintain muscle tissue. I still believe you are only as old as you think you are. I still train 5 days a week at the age of 58 and I will continue to do that as long as I am alive
ОтветитьYes. I got to this at present
Ответитьlol lower reps almost always ensures poorer form, and with higher loads especially poor form is what actually beats up your joints, not “volume.” Lift heavy all day every day if that’s your jam but you’re delusional if you think it won’t beat you up.
Ответитьgrease the groove and John? please retire for crying out loud
ОтветитьI’m 59.
Volumes are sets of 5s still.
Listen to your body …
Still cranking out good lifts which other gym goers see…
Ain’t dead yet..
Love your channel bud!
Amen

ОтветитьIDK vatos. For me age 66 been at weights for past 6 months with goal of reawakening my muscle memory from weight training age 15-35 ( i took up surfing late in life age 32 and trained exclusively for this sport of choice for 20 years i.e. a lot of swimming and paddling etc.). I go at it hard 15-20 sets per MG, 8-12 reps light to medium and switch to reduced reps with as heavy as I can go the 2nd day of MG in the same week. I also do 1 hour stair climbing, 1/2 hr battle ropes with 40 pound set, 1/2 hour abs and kettle bell farmers walk and 1 hour walking. Total time is 5 hours a day and 30 hours a week. Why do I do this? i enjoy it I am never fatigued after a work out have loads of energy and want to NOT ADD muscle, just awaken what is already there as a base ( I was huge back in the day). It has to do with wanting to BE FIT. In surfing if you lose your surfboard, find yourself a mile or more from shore after surfing hours and you are on our own THERE IS NO TIME OUT, NO TAP OUT option. You simply have to be FIT enough to make it back in to shore on your own OR DROIWN. It’s this mindset that drives me to want to be fit enough to handle any situation that may or may not come up. Soreness? Of course but to be expected. Getting worn out? Sure so I just take a break and get back to it when I’m recovered. Going at it a set here a set there a few reps here and there 1x-2x a week in and out of the gym in 15-30 minutes doesn’t appeal to my fitness goals. I’m just one Vato though with a background mentality about being FIT enough to overcome extreme situations . You don’t have that background so working out with weights a few minutes a week may work for you.
ОтветитьTry conjugate. Rotate your main exercise
