It better to fail brynjolf quest. You still get into the guild and brand shei is still available as a merchant.

I've played skyrim to death is it bad I've done all of these things? Also I've never used mods.

you know, it would seem if you used a release order, he should be able to go home and not have to go back into hiding. It's a shame they didn't work that in as a result.

What if you go and get the dragonstone before you get the quest from the court wizard? Then she wont leave to meet him and you can see if she'll take the dragonstone

My first playthrough that I bothered doing the thieves guild quest, I failed Brynjolf's quest because I had a mod that removed quest markers for immersion. I was at the wrong stall.

One of my favorite moments was encountering that Fugitive NPC near the reaper skeleton close to the Sleeping Tree camp. After he was done talking to me the Reaper Skeleton started chasing him out of no where and He was running for his life. Was hilarious.

Yep, done all of these too. I'm starting to think I may actually, truthfully, have seen everything there is to see in Skyrim. It's been probably a good 2 years since I last went "Holy crap I never saw that..." I'm not talking about crazy challenges like "yeah but have you tried beating the game...WITH A DINNER FORK?" that's just goofy. I mean real content, like alternate paths. What if you already have all 24 stones of barenziah before you mention them to Vex for the first time? Stuff like that. (The answer is nothing--she has no special dialogue. That was disappointing.)

You can also just drop the ring and fail the Brynjolf quest. That allows you to both start the Guild questline and keep Bran Shei as a merchant, plus you get at least a few sneak and lockpick xp even while failing.

Tulius refuses to help free thorald by saying the thalmor will cause too much noise if he does something....

It's been awhile but I think someone made a mod that makes Thorald a recruitable companion.

After you kill the Thalmor assassin (Why do they always use Khajiits?) you can tell Malborn he's safe to leave. Malborn will thank you, and head to Morrowind.
