Chineseum made in china.
ОтветитьAlmost seems like it'd have been easier to just LS swap it.
ОтветитьDo the dual injector engines see the same sort of build up on intake valves?
ОтветитьWes, whenever I try to fix a piston engine I use starting fluid if gas or diesel doesn't work. You have no obvious signs of it even trying to start. It doesn't even backfire. NOTHING! I have a compression gauge, somewhere, but I don't even know where. Getting an engine running does not require a compression gauge. I never use one anyway. And FYI I have started engines up with no viable sign of compression. If you spin an engine fast enough it will run w/ so little compression you'd be flabbergasted. That is one reason why I use Starting fluid. Not Carb cleaner, not Brake Cleaner, ETHER!. But you aren't even getting burps or farts out of that Chebby. C'mon Wes, It's not the rods, it's not the pistons, it's not the valves, it's something else..Use a starting fluid with a major amount of Diethyl Ether in it and get it to make noise. ben/ michigan
ОтветитьI enjoy your channel. I watch a channel call I DO CARS. the guy resales car parts. He might be able to help you. I'm pretty sure he have torn some of those engines down. You may have already called his company. Good luck with that car.
I think your a pretty sharp knife.
👍
Im afraid, like Paul Harvey usta say, that your brother owes you...the rest of the story. That thing got hot, like red hot at some point. Hot enuf to make a reluctor wheel loosen and spin. If it wasnt your brothers, u would have pushed it outside long ago. What's gonna burn worse is after u dump a cash box into it, then he turns around n sells or trades it for less than you have in it. Family can b a pain in the a...errr 'rear' sometimes. But, im someone's brother too, so I get it. Let's just hope your brother appreciates what ur doing for him. And no, Sir, ai will and can never replace the skills that you have...they can mimic them, not replace them.
ОтветитьWes ,I respect your abilities and calmness . I think that engine was overheated repletely .and spun the rod bushings, the timing chain while hot spun the reluctor.
ОтветитьWhat a great video, and exercise in the sunk cost roulette. Time for a parts vehicle with a service history.
ОтветитьEpisode 37...watch Wes try to LS swap an Equinox.
ОтветитьHey Wes I’m new subscriber love the channel..
Ответитьsue your brother for mental anguish & stress!
ОтветитьThe biggest reason I stopped working on cars (at home) was because of all the other issues that keep piling up. sometimes it seems to be better to simply back off and save the added headache as more issues keep appearing!
ОтветитьChem-dip carburetor cleaner is the only thing I've seen the eats that carbon
ОтветитьHang in there Bunky! Better days are a coming.
ОтветитьSpray oven cleaner in there let her soak then beet it down the road
ОтветитьIt’s a throw away engine for sure- never meant to be “fixed”
ОтветитьSounds like the govt of canada webpages
Ответитьpart 3 should be scrapping this junk an helping your brother with buying ~2010 west coast titled Honda Pilot.
ОтветитьOne of the worst engine designs ever. I was a die hard Chevy guy and because of a 2013 and 2012 Chevy equinox’s I will never buy another Chevy. Went to Hondas and have never been happier. Shame on GM for making such crap now.
ОтветитьRun some seafoam through your GDI engine every once in a while to clean the carbon off the valves
ОтветитьWhat can you do. It's a GM😁 we will be waiting for part 3!
ОтветитьMy daughter has one of these Equinox SUV's and she loves it even though I tried to talk her outta buying it.
ОтветитьWhat a deep rabbit hole you've gone down. But because you went through the depts of Hell for family, it just may solidify your place in Heaven.
ОтветитьI have a coworker who has a car with this engine. Good info in case I get asked about whether it’s worth repairing
ОтветитьI watch Wes work because of Wes. People make all the difference. Even though Americans sell out to convenience as a default. Keep on, Wes, keep on.
ОтветитьI had a 2013 Equinox with a 2.4. It was a happy day when it got totalled and I knew I no longer had to keep fixing that horrible thing. Oil burning, clogging air injection ports, rusting doors (at 2 years old!), warping brake rotors, failed cam phaser solenoids, cracked exhaust manifold, and I guess I should be thankful we didn't get to experience the blown crankshaft seals.
Ответитьput a catch can on the PCV system to prevent the future carbon packing.
ОтветитьTell your brother to junk this vehicle and buy a Toyota.
ОтветитьFeel your pain, Thanks for sharing!
Ответитьthis is the result of manufacturers having to meet the strict requirements of the epa. overengineering. meanwhile, my 3800 in a grand prix is cruising past 320,000 miles without no sign of giving up.
then you got this trash that cant barely make it past 100,000.
Tacoma narrows bridge effect.. Wes is the man
ОтветитьThe cylinders weren't washed out from an injector failure? Which could lead to everything you're seeing from oil consumption. Thing needs a new engine
ОтветитьExhaust manifolds crack on these. Don't bother looking until you get it running lol.
Ответить100,000 miles....it lived it's design life.
ОтветитьNext you know you will be on an episode of The Jaded Mechanic podcast.
ОтветитьSir you have the patience of a saint , The last suggestion (fuel& matches) would have been my go to Cheers Wes I love your videos.
ОтветитьWes, I would be curious if you can heat up the reluctor wheel and spin it to see if its even possible. 180 degrees is a weird error to hit that almost seems like a manufacturing glitch and maybe a new or updated ecu killed this engine
Ответить“Diabolical” is the perfect description.
ОтветитьYour brother had better be buying you a nice steak dinner or something lol. I always love when I do a big job for a family member for completely free and barely get a thank you lol
ОтветитьEven when the repairs may be a net loss, Max is always there to brighten everyone's day.
ОтветитьMan this one is really exciting such a rabbit hole of issues!!
ОтветитьWatching you momentarily struggle with that intake reminded me of the rain dance I have to do every time I remove one of those intakes to just snake it out past the radiator fans and high pressure pump.
Ответитьthis is exactly why I love your channel..... love how deep you go into the problem... (that sounds wrong.....)
ОтветитьI'd just use Chrome for business, people are ditching FF now. Also RIP to that white PC.
ОтветитьWes, this was a great video. Nothing like having your wife bury you on the interweb for the whole world to see.🤣 Watch it kid, you'll poke your eye out. It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye. 😆 Can't wait to hear it run Wes👍
ОтветитьI wonder if an Italian tune up would have worked before it got too bad
ОтветитьClassic, “ The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves” situation. Good luck…..
ОтветитьI’ve actually had a ecotec engine spin and cam reluctor and cause a no start. But in this case it was because the vacuum pump that runs off the cam locked up and spun it. Installed new cam and car ran mint. Have worked on a lot of these engines and if you neglect maintenance at all they don’t last.
ОтветитьSwap out the 2.4 for the for the 3.6 V6😎
Ответить
