All ok but what about the huge device drivers and firmwares support that's long pending to make it more meaningful for personal use?
When will that day come or will it actually?

I love your channel! But feels like voiceover and editing quality of today's video deteriorated..

Speech is slower, and "ch", "sh" is stressed too much. And some abrupt cuts are present here and there

All the best for future videos!

biggest miss, not including debs in the software store... like seriously ubuntu, let it default to snaps still, just give us the option in the drop-down for crying out loud

second miss, not including debs in the drop-down, im gonna keep saying this until blue in the face, such a huge repo of software and new users wont know it exists

major major hit, i believe ubuntus spin of gnome is the best period and it just gets better with 22.04 people need the persistent dock!

Miss:
1. I always miss the ability to minimize window by clicking the icon in dock. I was hoping it would be included in this new upgrade by default.

2. Accent color option is limited to 10. Although it is far better than before, having the ability to choose any color and brightness would be 👌

Btw I have learned so much basics of linux and Ubuntu on your website. Thanks 👍

I still HATE the lack of an application menu like Cinnamon's. Yeah, I'm a hater.

When does it become too much? Looks good though. You know I'll use it. First thing I'll install is Synaptic Package Manager.

Is there a solution to add more monitors than just one to my laptop? It only has one HDMI port

Hi

Thank you for this pre-review video for the upcoming LTS

One of the concerns I have for a while is that I have a 4K external monitor, by default there is no smooth way to adjust the resolution or scale rate in the config, it's either 100%, or 200%; there is no in-build/native support to 125% and 150%. I was hoping this version would support that as well.

Some people suggested to try xrand; have tried that, but never felt like I was getting the most out of my screen; it's either app icons are really small; or it's like maximized; basically I don't feel like I was getting the most out of it.

Hopefully one day it works as it works on Windows and Mac naturally.

I love Ubuntu anyway!!(Linux in general)

I tried it, and it gave me problems with installing a dual boot system. Tried it as a stand-alone and was not impressed. Truth is, my MX-Linux system is hard to beat!

Hi AP.
Thank you for your well-done presentation of the up-and-coming Ubuntu. Your presentation covered the best of the visual changes.

I do have one question though, Of all the changes, how many are due to Gnome 42 (which is common the SUSE' FEDORA, ARCH, DEBIAN, and OTHER Distributions? I am happty to know
that user comfort, (getting things done) is going to be better with this Ubuntu release.

Regards
Leslie

PS
Is there much change in Ubuntu when we take away the Gnome 42 support?
For example, I do write some C programs. One of them is 68k with Ubuntu, 64k with Fedora, 62K with Tumbleweed, and 60k with Leap1.54 All are using the identical Makefile, the identical C files. The only change made is to compile under a different distribution with the gcc libraries created by that distribution. .

I am not an expert internals' person for Linux, but I much prefer zfs to btrfs, ext4 or xfs.

My experience is that the former zfs system is simple to manage, is more secure than btrfs, and zfs efficiency matches btrfs. With respect to month-end, I am going to switch to Nobara 36 Linux, away from Fedora 36. I am disappointed that Nobara Linux has not considered to offer a fork of Fedora36 based on using the zfs file system. I feel we do need something better than btrfs or xfs as a SIMPLE, SECURE and EFFICIENT alternative.

Force Firefox as snap is mistake. Clean web browser start take 5-10 s? Disaster, It should took 1-2s. And If you want to install, use and update Firefox as deb you have to modify sources.list and app priority. Terrible.

Multitasking options, more configurable Ubuntu Dock and Pipewire as audio server are very good changes. I am very happy with that.

Dock does not display favourite apps, only the apps buuton at the bottom. When disabled form the extensions, it displays at the bottom center of the screen, only when you hit the Activities button. What could be the issue?

I miss the old gradient login screen. Is there any way to bring back that officially in gnome? Or do we have to use any other scripts for that?

Great video! I personally love the snapshot feature. One thing I loved about coming from windows to Ubuntu back in 20.04 LTS was how easy it is to screenshot, and now they made it even better! That's awesome I just updated to 22.04 LTS and it's great!

Biggest miss what that I lost my Firefox bookmarks and saved passwords. Luckily I had upgraded from another machine a few months ago, so I didn't lose all of them.
The biggest hit was that this version fixed an issue I had with with a second additional monitor attached to my Alienware laptop. It now sees it fine.
