Black Screen for sleep Sherlock Holmes old time radio shows 11 hours

I love this program! I particularly love this one because of the black screen!! I listen to these to fall asleep and the black screen means no one is distracted or kept awake by the light. Thank you so much for posting this version

Out of all the actors who played Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson Basil Rathbone, and Nigel Bruce were the best. (No need for a subjective disclaimer like the post below - like “to me,” “for me,” or “I feel.” )

I laugh that at around 9hr there is a character named "Anne Hathaway".

I've been a fan of Rathbone and Bruce since I was 6. My grandparents got me Hound of the Baskervilles and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes on VHS. When I was a bit older, they got me the radio shows on cassette. Now, almost 40, I have 85 of their radio shows on my cell and computer and all 14 movies on DVD. I even got my wife into them and she had never seen black and whites growing up.

These are great, apart from that awful organ.

I enjoyed the Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce movie adventures of the great detective as a child and still do for the nostalgia. It wasn't until I read the original stories that I learned that Watson was not as old as portrayed by Bruce, nor was he a congenial fool, bumbling his way to the wrong conclusions. The very best portrayal for all time of Holmes was by Jeremy Brett in the TV series by Granada. Amazingly, even Grandada casted Watson with actors nearly as old as Bruce. A tribute, I think, to the lasting impact that Bruce has had on the Watson character. Even Disney in "The Great Mouse Detective" couldn't help themselves but to animate the Watson-like character as a caricature of Bruce as a mustachioed mouse.

If you haven’t seen Basil in the old movie “If I were King”, then you need to see it! Awesome acting.

This is a wonderful collection of the old Adventures of Sherlock Holmes radio shows along with the Petri Wine ads.  I love the fact that they're all together in one long video with the black screen for listening at night.  Thank you SO MUCH for making these old treasures available so we can still listen to them.

Escape is ASSURED with radio. I follow the story. I create mental images of the action and locales. Bruce and Rathbone for ME are irreplaceable. I'm staying in the 1940s. I'm happily TRAPPED!
