How come they punch so strange? Like punching down at the opponents leg and their arm and chest? Do they score points or something?

Who believes that Kyokushin karate is a strong form of martial arts?

For everyone wondering, the reason we dont punch to the face is because when the style first kicked off their were too many injuries due to punches and elbows to the head and were losing both students and the momentum of our quickly rising style.
so instead we lowered the punches but still allowed kicks to the head, we also used to be able to grab our opponent.
the reason for the low guards in most of these fights is either because they receiving blows to the body or legs which usually causes peoples guards to automatically lower, especially with the power behind them, or, the kick comes from nowhere and they dont have time to block or the kick just simply passes through the block.
fun fact, a LOT of kyokushin fighter do super well in kickboxing and what not, Andy Hug being a prime example.

It's cowardly to use drop kick in the tournament, especially when you see that opponent is open. Have some honor people.

I think the only problem with karate that they do not get used to the head punches, in a street fight that is the first target. Also you need distance for the execution, which is not the case irl most of the time.
