That vehicle needs see junkyard
ОтветитьAre there any more makes of cars with blank switches than German makes? Remember seeing six figure German cars new with blanks.
ОтветитьA hybrid Audi......😂🤣😅
ОтветитьEVERY European modern car is a fraud. They look nice, but mechanically are ticking bomb. INTENTIONALLY designed this way. In 2008 the European auto manufacturers got into collusion - every car must be breakable so be profitable for the service and parts of the manufacturers, making it double expense for the owners. Whoever buys a used Audi, BMW or Mercedes, Range Rover - is doomed.
ОтветитьThe customer should be able to get their money back given that it was knowingly sold under false pretense. As is sales laws are superseded by consumer protection laws. The fact that this car was deliberately misrepresented changes this situation.
ОтветитьSounds like a perfect car for Tyler Hoover . He can bury it in the yard or see how far he can drive it through a mud pile
ОтветитьWow, just wow!
Ответитьin the uk that would be fixed and put back on the road in less than a week
ОтветитьJust like saving an old junk yard car body, is it possible to take a modern Audi A8 and do this: rip out all the electronics, motor, computers. Then install an LT with transmission and its own harness. does that stuff fit?
ОтветитьJunk, this is why I would NEVER buy a Volkswagen AG product. A Turbo hybrid? What garbage really? I do not understand it. I would rather buy a beater and have a motorcycle instead of a hybrid!!
ОтветитьWell, someone won: The person or dealership which sold it to your customer. Pocketed money and perhaps paid nothing out to buy the car to sell.
ОтветитьThis car can run without its engine at all, for several miles, if fully charged and driven carefully.😮😮😮😮 Just saying don't condemn the engine until you've seen the main barings.
ОтветитьI had a 2018 A4 40TDI quattro as a leaser and I hated every bit of it. Ground clearance was too low so it was scraping the bottom on every curb, engine was powerless and vibrating when it run at 1200rpm at 80km/h (to save fuel). And on the 3rd year of lease the constant particle filter errors started, battery died on 2nd year etc. What a turd (e-tron means a turn in french btw). Mine was not a hybrid but a diesel though. Still a turd.
ОтветитьSearch for Rufford ford if you want to see funny engine totaling
Ответитьthe true parts price for the car is around 10K.. on the exterior and interior parts..
the rest to the recycling ...
He bought himself a lawn ornament
ОтветитьNow see, that is the measure of a good shop; telling you what NOT to get, and refusing to do something other greedy shops might see as a cash grab. It may be a hard pill to swallow when you hoped it could just be fixed, but it is profoundly better than being cheated again by a shop and going down that dark and endless repair blackhole.
ОтветитьI have a feeling that car is going to get 'stolen' again. Then someone will fix it cheap with a junkyard engine. Resale value (i.e. branding on the title) only matters if you're planning on selling it, not driving till it's scrap.
Edit: Also, pre-purchase inspection. If you cannot start it, check for codes, maybe do a quick compression test AND cannot get a carfax or similar, RUN!
I wouldn’t buy a used Audi even if without a salvage title.
ОтветитьSomething even worse can occur with the VW VR6 engine. The oil pick up is close to the bottom of the oil pan that if you hit, even gently, a speed bump and it touches the oil pan, the metal will deforme and clog the oil pick up. Not enough to immediately shine a red light but enough to slowly but surely total your engine.
ОтветитьMeanwhile my civic with 200k miles has no issues, no error codes, stock cats, stock chains, stock everything...
ОтветитьDoes the owner get its money after being scammed by the seller? Serious question, i have no idea how it works in the USA. Many greetings out of The Netherlands
ОтветитьRecoup the money by listing parts, only possible positive financial outcome
ОтветитьSevere problems from the day it was new
ОтветитьWas this car bought from "First Marshall" auction by chance? That pace needs to be investigated by the Illinois attorney general.
ОтветитьJust buy diesel 2.0 stronic (dsg) and you have milion km with it
ОтветитьBest entterior this generation
ОтветитьI was thinking that this man knows his stuff....but nooooo, he dont have an idea about europian cars
ОтветитьIn Australia there is a central Government database that if a car is totalled you can never register that car again even if you repaired it, can only be sold for parts , you can with a repairable write off but it has to be signed off by an engineer first after the work is done
ОтветитьThese engines do not suffer from timing chain stretch, because its a belt. i am a VAG specialist from the EU, these cars are my bread and butter. The oil low oil pressure is probably the cause of the timing going out of wack. the cam actuators etc.
over here these 1.4 engines are in almost every VAG product, and so are like 1.5k from the junkyard. 2k refurbished.
this platform of car is very very easy to work on. the hybrid system complicates it a bit but you're looking at only 10hrs to do an engine swap. now i dont know how it is in the US with parts availability, but over here in the EU this is certainly an easy repair. the salvage title is really what demolishes the value of this car. otherwise it wouldnt be that bad to spend 4-5k on.
this is no hate on you guys, just my view from over here across the sea
I know the feeling
ОтветитьThey won't even want it
ОтветитьAll it needs is a engine yea its worth it to the owner How much would would the car cost if it did not have a salvage title and how much will the owner have in it once he gets a engine in it ? I might be cheaper to fix it then buy another
ОтветитьWow I never would've thought I would see my exact car being reviewed! 2018 A3 Etron owner :)
ОтветитьThe Audi A3 Etron with 6 speed DSG (dual wet clutch) and VW Jetta Hybrid with 7 speed DSG (tripple dry clutch) both share the 1.4T and some of the hybrid electronics however the A3 Etron battery system is much larger and water cooled/heated whereas the Jetta Hyrbid is only air cooled. The 1.4T is also used on regular model Jettas. The 1.4T uses a timing belt with a 120000 mile interval. Both of these hybrid cars are VERY RARE in the US and nearly no one works on them. I have seen countless times the dealer quotes $5000+ for transmission work because they don't stock parts or work on them. They are much more common in Germany.
ОтветитьAgain, this video rightly emphasized the importance of pre-purchase inspections. Very good advice. This has nothing to do with any scams, but 50+ years ago my mother drover our 1964 Galaxie for quite a while after the oil pressure light came on. As expected, the engine was ruined and dad was not happy. Luckily, the local Ford dealer had another used 1964 Ford Galaxie with a good engine and bad transmission. Swaps were made and we ended up with a working car. Even better, the original Galaxie had hail damage, the replacement one did not.
ОтветитьYears ago I owned a Porsche 944. Short story, I was driving home from work one evening and ran over a rock someone had dropped or deliberately placed on the highway. I didn't see it, and hit it. It went under the car and did quite a bit of damage, including breaking the aluminum oil pan. Of course all the lights came up on the dash, what did I do? Immediately switched off the ignition one click as to not lock the steering column, and coasted it to the side of the road. There was 8 quarts of Castrol's finest all over the place! I had to remind the tow truck driver to not hook it by the aluminum control arms and not cause further damage.
It was all covered by insurance, who also covered the shop dropping the oil pan, and checking the main and rod bearings, which looked brand new. No other damage except for the oil pan and the exhaust system, which got beat up by the rock. Engine ran flawlessly after the repair, and was perfect for my ownership duration.
Might be time for a roof wizard lol
ОтветитьIt’s an Audi…
ОтветитьWizard, where did you get the BMW banner you have in the background up on the wall?
ОтветитьThat bit about driving 5 miles after busting the oil pan instead of shutting it down somehow reminds me of the old commercial: "You can pay me now, or you can pay me later"
ОтветитьMaybe someone could sell this car for its body parts.
ОтветитьIf it’s a PHEV, they can run it on electric power only provided the (likely very short) range gets them around town. But it’s still a severely nerfed car, best case scenario
ОтветитьThat’s actually a plugin hybrid, the plug is under the Audi emblem. Fun little party trick. You can get 20 miles pure EV, without the engine.
ОтветитьReally love the Paul Harvey references. I miss his broadcasts. Truly a unique individual.
ОтветитьLoud Exhaust save live’s…
ОтветитьDoesn’t the 1.4 use rubber belt timing?
ОтветитьI wouldn't give $2k if it needs an engine especially if it's a salvage title vehicle. Maybe $1k tops for it if I was in love with it, and there was a clean title. I'd be offering double what the junk man will give that customer. That's ~$600 to make it worth the effort of towing it home, sourcing another engine (or rebuild that one...), and all the extra 'while you're in there' items. In total if one was lucky, you're out maybe $1500 to rebuild and/or replace the engine. Luckier if VW used the same 1.4L engine in a different VAG products (I don't know... It might cross reference with a VW Jetta 1.4L engine. I dont know....).
An all in cost if ~$2200 wouldn't be bad. Until something else breaks! 😅 But hey, that's why junk yards exist!
These engines can be purchased for 1-2k with under 40,000 miles on them and they are less than a day to R&R very easy.
