It's not even close to SORA I'm afraid. Almost 1 generation behind. And it clearly has tried to emulate the same scenes in the SORA announcement video (boat sloshing in a fluid, etc.). But thanks for sharing the video. It helped to demonstrate how good SORA really is.

Its not as good as SORA but def better than other apps. The good thing about this is that it may force Open AIs hand to release SORA to the public. If Open AI keeps with holding SORA and this company releases a couple updates... Open AI could find themselves loosing out. I think this is positive... not because Im hyped about Vidu but because of the effect this can have on the market.

SORA looks far better but Chinese tech is sniffing right behind already. Both are unreleased and the results are probably very much cherry-picked on the two sides.

As China had been known for copying top-notch products from elsewhere, this seems to perpetuate that sentiment still. It’s almost an exact copy of SORA but not quite as perfect as every copy China has made.

it all comes down to who can release their AI first. Vidu or Sora. who will win the race for first mover advantage? I think its a great opportunity for Vidu to release first. since theres no election in china, they can just release vidu now. theres no political risks.

I hope this isnt just another vaporware like imagen or emo, where they just announce it but never release it. wonder why they spend all this time and money developing these tech just to never release it?

Nah not anywhere near Sora. You can see the ondular vibration of the images, while with Sora, you can't

I really feel next year at this time everything we are using or praising will look like garbage in comparison. The competition is driving companies or even individuals to get to work and try new ways, push the limits! We are just at the start of this, I see a day pretty very soon we have multiple agents, we ask one to write a script, another to direct, a few to film scenes, multiple editors that request the film makers do more work to get it right. So we will have full movies, done fast and accurate. Today this is not possible, but think of the video we had a year ago (early 2023) it was hideous! we go wow looking at Sora, but next year we will laugh at it.

You're being far too nice, and not pointing out many of the obvious flaws. It has terrible temporal coherence. The animations look jumpy and not very smooth. People and foliage morph significantly in unnatural and distracting ways. The overall image quality has a bad Midjourney look to it. It just looks like the cherry picked examples of something generated by Pika Labs.
