The most important tool for survival in the jungle is a good sword. not some tiny knife. You can craft most of the things provided in that kit with the help of a good sword. Unnecessary items will only increase the weight.

It depends on the kind of 'bug out' you expect.
A bug-out bag for the wilderness is gonna be VERY different from a bug-out bag for an urban setting. Yes, a great deal of the stuff is gonna be the same, but there are still a lot of differences.

Use strike anywhere matches (available at Ace Hardware), dip the heads in clear nail polish to waterproof them. If you have a vacuum food sealer, vacuum seal small packets of a dozen or so for additional physical protection. Include a small piece of sandpaper or striker portion from the side of a match box. Yes, they are strike anywhere matches, but having a good, dry striking surface immediately available is a plus in a stressful situation.

a bulky GPS? really lol? You guys just need 2 rugged smartphones for redundancy with offline maps and trail apps installed. One should be stored inside the faraday pouch just to unsure it gets no EMP damage. the other one is your everyday carry phone. No need for paper maps and crap like that. Your phone is a multi-tool containing everything even the compass.

i think ill not worry about signaling. i consider myself a one man wolfpack
